I see men asking for Professional women and women asking for Professional men.....so what makes us Professional? 5+ years of shagging? The ability to make someone cum from oral sex alone?

I've always thought that a professional is someone with a very high qualification and exceptional experience in a subject...So if I'm correct Open University needs to start shagging lessons lol!!

I assumed it referred to someones job/career.

Maybe those people asking for a 'professional' wants someone who is intelligent and can hold a conversation (as well as good at shagging!!)

There is no real answer because Professional meeds different things to different people. Do a forum search on it but it will give you some heavy reading.

well, technically to be a Professional you need to be paid to do what you're a professional at, so a "Professional man/woman" would be an escort/prostitute/gigolo.

This is why euphemisms on sites like this can get annoying - just say what you mean, people!

It seems to be a word where the definition has changed significantly, and common useage seems to have tarnished what it once stood for. Now it almost seems as if any tom, dick or harriet who's got a job of some sort or other - had it longer than a few hours or so - ascribes themselves the title of 'professional'.

As a purist, I'd prefer the former state of affairs, largely, though Doctor Johnson's dictionary complilation would have likely stated that words are not static, due to their dynamic reinterpretation and everyday evolution. (Course, I never got to meet the guy, and haven't read his book, either).

On Fab, like elsewhere, I now infer that people mean that they have some sort of career, whatever it may be. We're mostly here for a shag, so whether meeting a lawyer or a call centre operative may make little difference, if the chemisty is there, unless Hyacinth Bucket is a member.

Generally, wanting a professional person to meet or describing oneself as professional, means that people are looking for a person who is articulate and/or has a similar background.

I don't think its about literally having a professional qualification, though some do. Its a polite way of trying to ensure that you meet a person whom you have something in common with.

I haven't written that I am or want to meet professionals on my profile, but its probably fair to say that I wouldn't have much in common with people who drink a lot, get loud and lairy, have unfocused eyes and who use coarse language, for example a guy saying 'hey luv you've got massive fucking tits which I can see wrapped round me knob' is probably not really going to impress me because I don't speak that way and I'm put off with that level of brazenness.

I, on the other hand, would probably bore the arse of people who like having a drink, who get loud, who enjoy shouting across rooms and who generally let their hair down and have fun in this way.

Its not about the literal and if people do not like the choice of words someone uses or they are excluded from someones preferences, then its no biggie, move on to those people who share similar tastes,

And yes I know that high court judges can also have a drink and get loud and obnoxious, before anyone takes my post apart literally, its just a simple generalisation and only an opinion. Like anything, people will have a different interpretation.

They want to meet professional somebody who actually works than somebody who Stays at home all day waiting for their Jobseeker's Allowance.
