Band of brothers and the Pacific were both amazing. Comedy wise I'd say the thick of it and we are klang. Animation I'll go with final space and archer. I'm sure there are others though.

I find that how a series ends really influences my enjoyment of it, if they fuck up the ending it ruins the rest of the series for me.
