A well known Australian rugby player has intimated that LGBT equality is the work of the devil. How do we reconcile Religious views with today's rights ?

Times have changed since the bible first came out...then again, times have changed since this story first broke.

Have you got anything more topical?

The right place

I don’t see a conflict between an all loving god and people’s rights. I have a very different interpretation of the bible to Israel Falau

I say fuck them, black, white, gay straight, and every beautiful thing in between. who gives a shit let people think what that want, and just kill them with love. stand up be proud of what and who you are and that will show the youth of today what true equality is about.... love

One of the many problems with religion is that everything is open to interpretation, and definition is often left to fools. Like an Australian rugby player.

Personally I think it shouldn't be taught in schools, because as they say it's not a choice by teaching young kids about lgbt it's basically giving them the option

LGBT folk. Tangible, real people. Or, the religious writings that require me to believe in them without anything other than faith.

Hmmmmmm...

I don't think we should look to religion as our moral compass (not saying that religion is devoid of good morals, a lot of who I am came from going to a loving, caring church school and growing up with good religious people). But good morals is not something divine, its something that should be core to humanity. I am all for freedom of religion but shared human rights must always trump religious teaching when the two clash.

We should teach our children to accept everyone for who they are regardless of what they like to wear or who they want to have relationships with.

The church needs to move with the times. Parents should educate their children if they want a religious upbringing. Religion should come out of schools. It’s only during school age that kids are subjected to being educated in religious schools. If everyone that went to a school based on religion the churches would be heaving.

Kids need safe places to talk about their feelings and school should provide that.
