Hi all,

Just a quick query whether any "mature" folk have taken up boxing or martial arts fitness sessions, and whether it was genuinely beneficial. I know the results will be dictated by frequency and commitment, I'm hoping for some more pragmatic responses. Cheers

Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!

exeter

kick and thai boxed on and off for 20 years, packed it in at 30 (was carrying too many injuries had a knee op), came back at 32 packed it in again 35 (fitness dropped off due to stating a new business so was losing bouts). Switched to Krav Maga at 38 and still training, although had a 9 month break from training due to a hernia. Back a month and loving it although feeling very out of shape at the moment, nothing like gloving up and getting in about it!
