I really don't understand people's issue with this.

Surely you wouldn't want every person who's simply not interested in you to give you a list of reasons why?

If someone blocks you, accept that it means they're just not interested, you're not what they're looking for reliable for whatever reason, don't sweat it and move on.

I have received (on my single profile) abusive messages from 2 different men who I had simply deleted the messagess of, because I had not replied to their requests for sex. I used to reply with a reason, but that starts a dialogue and they try to sidestep my reason.Now I block members and delete message without replying. I don't have to reply, I am not running a chat service. I only want to reply to potential meets. Quite often I don't fancy the person, should I reply and tell then I find their appearance repulsive??

It's ignorant not to read profiles before messaging, or the faq section which clearly states no reply is no interest, it's not rude. If someone can make the effort to do those things then maybe they will get a reply and not a block. Block is often used as another filter to stop those people appearing in updates and searches again. For about every 20 messages I ignore, I get maybe 3 abusive messages.

For the 20 or so messages I read, replied to (nicely and politely btw

) I got about 7 abusive messages, so I ended up blocking them anyway

And I’ve done wee experiments like that before and it always works out the same

I tried replying to all of mine this morning (was going to make a thread) and I got more abuse than usual

For about every 20 messages I ignore, I get maybe 3 abusive messages.

For the 20 or so messages I read, replied to (nicely and politely btw

) I got about 7 abusive messages, so I ended up blocking them anyway

And I’ve done wee experiments like that before and it always works out the same

I do hope the ones on this thread saying its rude to not reply are reading out posts Queenie. I somehow doubt it very much. That two of us that have done the same experiment with the same results. Funny that we both came to the same conclusion, isn't it?

If the person has messaged and it's something i really am not into or dont like then I'll block, or sending loads of messages.

That way i dont get the message any more.

Like others I have sent messages in the past saying no thank you but its pointless as 9 times out of 10 you get messages back.

THAT! So many people that I reject but as I try to be friendly with everyone and still tall to them, they'll eventually try to change my mind about the rejection.

There is always a reason. You just don't know what it is. Maybe some honest self-reflection would give you an idea, or maybe it's something completely out of your control. Either way, it doesn't matter. If they're not interested, there's no point continuing.

If they've attracted your attention, chances are they've attracted the attention of a fifty others the same day. Do they all deserve a reply? How much time should they waste on something they already know is going nowhere?

And of course you're a decent guy. If someone gives replies with a "no thanks, you're not my type", you're not going to argue with them. You're not going to try to tell them how they're wrong. You're not going to get angry when they stubbornly refuse to understand that they're throwing away the opportunity of a lifetime. But they don't know that! And there is sadly no shortage of men who will do these things. It's easier and safer to delete and block and get on with life.

It's not rude. It's necessary. It's how it's done here. Complaining about it just shouts "entitlement", and gets you pre-emptively blocked by half the people who see it.

We try to reply to all messages but on a busy day we might get 150 or so...we always read a profile before replying so let's say a couple minutes to read and reply that's 5 hours work. That would be an extreme day but it has happened.....hence it's not always possible to reply to everyone.
