Music you re-discover

I took Mum & Dad out for lunch and a drive yesterday

I try and choose music for the car that they might enjoy

It seems to help Dad with his mind and memory

Anyway, yesterday, I chose Natalie Cole 'Unforgettable' (it's a collection of covers of her Dads songs)

I bought the CD back in 1992

It has been sat gathering dust for some time

I am now re-hooked

I sang my way into work and crooned my way home

So, Fabbers, what albums have you recently re-discovered and were they as good as you remember them?

I dug out my original albums the other week ...

My 14yr old was fascinated

I spent a happy hour rediscovering Rio and the union of the snake by duran Duran

London

Much in the same vein, my mother’s father used to play Richard Tauber when she was a child. She introduced me to him as a way of telling me about my grandfather (he died when she was about 12). And I recently rediscovered the CD I have “The Best of Richard Tauber” and listened with tears to his favourite: We’ll Gather Lilacs.

Awww ... I like these stories

My Mum and Dad were both late arrivals, so my Grandparents were quite old when I was a kid

I remember being pretty sure I was the only kid in school that spent his summers listening to Vera Lynn, Hawaiian Classics and Englebert Humperdincks Greatest Hits... and sharing my Grandma's 'Meals on Wheels'

Not as sassy as Natalie Cole but I've started going through the Undertones back catalogue. Even the traditionally 'difficult third' album sounds a joy.

Any songs you recommend a listen to?

I'm afraid my knowledge of them will be similar to that of many, Feargal Sharkey and Teenage Kicks

I stuck a couple of Counting Crows albums on over the weekend, haven't listened to them in years. They played a big part in my youth as I used to listen to them flat out when I was doing my apprenticeship and on site training. They still made me smile and sing along

All over the place! Northwesr, , Southwest

I recently re-discovered the album Load by Metallica . I've had it since it came out and can't believe I panned it like I did

The songs and general craftsmanship are amazing and I count it now among their finest works! Think at the time I was massively disappointed because I expected Black album 2.0

Mostly listen to the 80s & 90s anyway and stopped listening to the new music after 2000 really mostly because it’s ****

This is why I’m glad that I’ve not thrown out my CD’s.

Every now and then I have a look through & pick one out for the car - currently revisiting and enjoying-

Best of - lightening Seeds

Elton John live with Melbourne Orchestra from about 30 years ago. Fantastic version of The Greatest Discovery and an incredible intro on ‘Tonight’

Under the Duvet

Not hugely old but been listening to Amy Winehouse and U2 on repeat recently.

Think my child may hide the CDs down the back of the sofa soon!

I read this thread earlier and nothing really sprang to mind. Then I heard Justified & Ancient by KLF on the radio so you can guess what I’m listening to now.

Chorlton cum Hardy

Liz Phair - Exile in Guyville (1993), mainly due to the song 'Flower'. What a great song when you're listening to it as a teenager...

Every time I see your face I get all wet between my legs

Every time you pass me by, I heave a sigh of pain

Every time I see your face I think of things unpure, unchaste

I want to fuck you like a dog

I'll take you home and make you like it

Everything you ever wanted

Everything you ever thought of

Is everything I'll do to you

I'll fuck you and your minions, too

Your face reminds me of a flower

Kind of like you're underwater

Hair's too long and in your eyes

Your lips a perfect "suck me" size

You act like you're fourteen years old

Everything you say is so obnoxious, funny, true and mean

I want to be your blow job queen

You're probably shy and introspective

That's not part of my objective

I just want your fresh, young jimmy

Jamming, slamming, ramming in me

Every time I see your face I think of things unpure, unchaste

I want to fuck you like a dog

I'll take you home and make you like it

Everything you ever wanted

Everything you ever thought of

Is everything I'll do to you

I'll fuck you till your dick is blue

Every time

Recently got in to the icicle works and Ian McNabb's solo stuff. One of the best most prolific song writers from Liverpool. A wonderful wordsmith
