Same here ... it's odd how people don't seem to be able to take complements well ... or you feel compelled to reciprocate "

With people have met you and know you yes, as i feel these are real and heart felt

strangers on the street, simple complement can change a frown into a smile

on here or any internet site i think they are throw away comments

I'm a strange one cos when I'm at work I can talk to anyone and be really confident, but when it comes to talking to people outside of work on a personal level I'm shy as hell. Same as when messeging people I get a mental block and don't know what to say and come across as stupid

On here perhaps it is difficult to determine real genuine heartfelt complements and those just designed to try and get into your underwear

Usually shown when you turn then down for a reason and get the stroppy insults instead

Low self confidence and self esteem. Women smile at me all the time yet all I seem to be able to muster is a glare. I guess this is partly why people think I'm unfriendly.

I've developed bravado and a bit of confidence over time, but it has its limits. Around anyone I really fancy when I'm not sure they feel the same. Too much unsolicited sexual attention at once. Trying to move too fast sexually.

I can get into the groove and be fine, but I've got to get past my nerves first.

I'm not too bad at approaching people, I just take a deep breathe and go for the plunge. I can fo it with women I fancy so long as I know there isnt a hope that I have a chance, I just talk to them like any other person really. Well you have a lovely figure and a really sharp mind, perhaps that is why.

I can take a compliment but my response is rarely sincere. So "you have a pretty face" or whatever... The thank you is reflexive and the smile probably doesn't reach my eyes. It's just What You Say.

Getting me to genuinely accept a compliment is incredibly difficult.

I enjoy and take compliments at face value. Sometimes I make a self-deprecating joke, depending on who is giving me the complement and the kind of relationship we have, but on the whole I just say thank you and mean it.

Not for me, always been like it. Even now with people I’ve known 20+ years in work or friends from prior that, if they say something nice I tend to well up. I have to walk away or change the subject very quickly.

I’m confident and can talk to anyone, but find it very uncomfortable if someone says something nice

I hate large groups of people, I get paranoid they are all talking about me, or going out of their way to exclude me, which is possibly true of one or two, but unlikely to be true of them all.

I also get shy in front of women I find attractive. Usually after a few minutes I realise I've been staring at her tits or admiring her clothes, secretly wishing they were mine.

Not shy one bit, if for example a woman gives me a compliment, ie "you have nice eyes" I simply always reply with a counter compliment ie "and you have a lovely smile' their reaction will then dictate which direction I want to take the conversation.

An insult will get the same response a counter insult but a lot more personal, and I would not engage in any other conversation.
