So I'm new to Instagram.

I've been following people I know. A girl I liked now has followed me.

She's a girl that I don't talk to and we ignore each other. Things got a tad awkward somehow between us.

Why would she follow my feed which is new and empty?

She knows I would see her following.

I'm assuming its due to wanting either my attention or to nosey into my life which is stupid or she wants more people to follow her...which I don't understand either.

Wondering if anyone uses this app and can shed some light on this?

I'm sure you know how Instagram works, I bet there are people who have thought the same about you following them. Best way to avoid this is set your profile to private and then you can decide who follows you and not have randomers adding you.

Following on Instagram means and signifies nothing, it's all just a numbers game. People add those that they know, whether they like them or not.

Don't overthink it, if it bothers you, ask, if not, then delete and block.

I have all kinds of people following me from around the world. I don’t know them, sometimes I follow back if they have an interesting page but mostly I don’t. It doesn’t mean anything that someone follows you, most just want you to follow back to get their number of followers up.

I follow people I know...doesn’t mean anything other than I follow them on insta....

When someone is new and they have your number in their contacts OR have you on Facebook and you have connected insta to either of these, she will get a notification saying you’ve joined.

She was probably being polite and just followed you

My friend on Insta said following is a done thing.

Yes her profile is on private. Once I click to follow her I'm assuming the doors will open but true she may have to accept me so that in itself will be a clue.

My friend on Insta said following is a done thing.

Yes her profile is on private. Once I click to follow her I'm assuming the doors will open but true she may have to accept me so that in itself will be a clue.

I have many people I work with that follow me but I don’t follow all back. I work with 1000s so don’t always want to see all on my feed.

well shes on my snapchat. not facebook i dont think but shes on my snapchat. instagram is very new only a few days old for me so her adding me/following me seems odd.

I don’t use snap chat as too old for that. I just like posting arty pics on insta. Sometimes, you can invite people from your other social media to your Instagram. You sure you didn’t sync your address book?

100% didnt sync my address book on my phone. I only sync my facebook and followed a whole bunch of random people I know that came up immediately. She didnt pop up. Undoubtly some mutual friends did pop up but she her self didn.

I made sure I didnt add her as we dont talk and if we see each other its not comfortable, she doesnt make eye contact and I therefore dont bother to look.
