My 2019 houseplant experiment is flailing.

Lost the maidenhair fern, and two small Boston ferns (large one is ok) and the medinilla magnifica.

Other plants doing okay.

It’s official, I’m a houseplant killer.

In the middle

Alas I am the same, I can grow plants in the garden or tubs but anything in the house that I have tried to grow or just maintain has been doomed to the recycle bin

Finding the amount to water difficult this summer but at the moment I’ve got seven that are surviving, two thriving!

I have prayer.plants, orchids and peace lilies that all seem to thrive without much maintenance. I drown the prayer plants every so often and sporadically water the orchid and other exotic display I’ve got. They seem to survive well.

The Sedum burrito (Burro's Tail), Chinese Money plant, other succulents and the aloe are all happy. The Tradescantia sitara has lost its pink colour, I fear she is next.

Mine are all fake inside these days.

Quick rinse under the tap every now and again and they are as good as new.

Always have real flowers about though.

I even did the pebble trays and they have their own humidifiers (the ferns). Pah!

I’ll stick to cut flowers and outdoor plants.

I'm sorry to hear that. I recommend humming The Last Post followed by a minute's silence.

Some of our 420 friendly fellows have the answer. Grow lamps.

Once the preserve of the illicit herb growers, you can now pick them up from legitimate horticultural places quite cheaply.

I think that may well be the issue. Lack of light.

I’m currently trying to grow strawberry plants but they don’t seem to be doing much.

Also planted (well, sprinkled) some meadow seeds and nothing.

Weeds are growing like bilio though!

House plants creep me out a bit

I am coming round to the idea of a terrarium though

I am on the look out for suitable vessels that don't cost an arm and a leg

I actually get this a little too. I don’t like all plants and I hate those years old weird dusty ones that don’t even look alive. I wanted a happy jungle of health.

I fear I may just forgo this!
