The trick is not to "try" to get their attention, more just be yourself and not go in expecting to meet right off the bat - and make sure you back it up with a profile and pics that are appealing.

I've had conversations that have led to meets spring out of all sorts of things, usually a comment on a forum post that has then sparked a conversation that has nothing to do with meeting initially but as time has progressed and a connection has been established the suggestion to meet has arisen, and not always me suggesting it either.

I rarely send first messages and even then it is generally on the back of something in the forum. I have no success garnering interest through searching profiles and sending messages. So my forum presence is the main way I get noticed or on the very odd occasion after I have posted a new picture and someone has found my profile amusing. I get so few views that I know of, and let’s face it most women are in stealth mode, to stop the ‘I see you looked at my profile messages’ that having a bit of fun of the forum is my predominant way of interacting with women. I’ve tried the chat rooms but they’re like shouting from the bottom of a deep ocean and expecting someone to hear you.

Done both of those and in 9.5 years on here it has never once led to a conversation, except one wink on the back of a winking thread on here. I can’t remember who winked first though.

I'm polite and respectful but get annoyed someone just deletes your message when when you follow the criteria they have put in place. It's a little disrespectful considering you've gone through the effort to read and acknowledge their requests.. Sticky toffee pudding... Good idea.. Ha ha

It's standard practice and an acceptable way of saying "No thanks" (per the site FAQs) to delete a message without response though.

While you may think you meet someone's criteria, or are what they are looking for, they may not - add to that the level of *abuse* some users send back when they get a message saying no thanks, and that by replying it bypasses any future filters someone might set and you get an idea why people (me included) just straight delete a message if it's of no interest.

Don't take it personally is my advice, just accept it happens and move on.

I get hardly any messages (usually) and I never reply to anyone either. You could have what you think is the perfect profile, message etc, and no one owes you a reply. If I’m not interested (I don’t find them attractive, distance, or whatever reason) then I won’t reply

From other posts you've indicated you're in sales in some respect - try thinking about it from that perspective - when you go to a client to try and sell them something, or send them details of a promotion and they either don't buy anything or don't respond - do you find that annoying, or just accept it and put it down to the nature of a role in sales i.e. that you won't always make a sale?

If they don't fancy you though, you dont fit their criteria. There are a lot of people who might fit into what a person is looking for based on personality, but if that initial attraction to your pics is not there, then you are not their physical type. Try not to get annoyed. See it as a person's way of saying "No Thanks, not for me". It would be so much easier to have a button that did this, but as we don't, that's what a no reply or delete means. It's in the sites FAQ's.
