Everyone is different that's for sure. I don't think love has to mean heartache and I don't think that you need love to be happy either. I think happiness comes from within. I would rather be happy by myself than miserable in 'love'. I suppose some people do want what they have never had and others don't. I know people who want love who have never been in love.

Love is like a pube on a toilet pan, sooner or later you get pissed on

Seriously I have am a better person for experiencing the rollercoaster of love, the ecstatic highs, the heart-breaking lows and the middle ground of contentment and everything between. Archetypally I am a Lover so unsurprisingly I agree with the statement.

I wouldn't know don't even really know what love is to be honest. Bounced around care homes since birth.

I think I read somewhere that we feel and experience love from our mums and dads and close ones, so look for that feeling as adults, to build relationships and attachments, never had a relationship with anyone that's lasted more than a few months, in during these times am I experiencing love, or is it having a void of emptiness being filled, and the parting is just the anxiety of being alone again.

It's confusing.

Love and lost.

So much enjoyment from love.

So many people afraid to have feelings incase they get hurt.

I say embrace your emotions and feelings and dont be afraid to show them and explore them.

Also dont be afraid of the hurt, it's a learning curve

"Better to have loved and lost than never loved at all?

In my experience I’d have preferred not to have loved at all

Same here!!

And me

Love is too much drama - I prefer the mundane than the soul crushing emotions that go hand and hand with 'love '

It's taken me a long time to realise that it's OK to be on my own and not need anyone.

Love steals your independence.

Alternatively it can transform our independence into interdependence - mutuality between two autonomous people.

Or co-dependance when two people massively fuck each other up "

Or if we are ever that lucky just that perfect mutual support understanding and peace where each knows that the other feels like home....

Definitely, everyone needs to have experienced it once

for those who wish it ...I hope they find it.

Do other people refuse to allow themselves to feel this way in case they get hurt again "

Yep

"Better to have loved and lost than never loved at all?

Of course it isn’t .

You don’t miss what you’ve never had do you ?

"

I've never been in love in spite of a 17 year marriage so I don't know if it is better to have loved and lost or not.

I don't feel I have missed out in the sense I have my kids and I enjoy my own company.

I wouldn't say I never want it to happen but I am not looking for it as I love my life and it would take a special person to compliment it.

Yes

Because once you've survived the worst another person can do to you, you realise just how strong you are, what you are capable of.

Having my heart broken, my life destroyed was the best thing that ever happened to me.

Yeah it probably is in some cases. Would it be better to not have had a 65 year loving marriage because one of you will die before the other?

Maybe, but realising that nobody else is ever going to make you feel quite like that again is depressing

Defiantly better to have loved even if you have lost it

I know people feel they can’t bare the pain and regret feeling so close to someone then it ending it’s as though all the best of times change rapidly to the worst of times, nothing hurts more than a broken heart

But Yes it is worth it, it’s real raw and beautiful and sometimes bites us but i know it’s my driving force and I am at my best when I love
