Best left to the bakers. It's one of those gadgets that people buy on a whim thinking they'll use it all the time but after 2 weeks of frantic use it ends up collecting dust in a distant corner of some far flung kitchen unit.

Get wholemeal seed flour it makes a gorgeous loaf.

The smell is gorgeous but the bread doesn't stay fresh long because I guess the preservatives in supermarket shop bread makes them last.

Mind you it's still good for toast when it's lost that initial day old fresh taste.

If you lead a busy life it might not be ideal

We're on our second bread maker. It isn't in daily use but if you want fresh bread rolls with your dinner and are really busy it will be kneading the dough while you get on with other stuff. All you need do is get the dough out, knock it back, divide into rolls, prove and bake.

Well...I can only speak from my own experience.

I got one off Freecycle. It is ridiculously easy to use. It is also ridiculously easy to eat the whole bloody loaf as soon as it comes out the machine.

Warm bread is proper sexy and if you have poor impulse control you may find yourself a stone heavier in a matter if weeks!

You can get away with a loaf tin in a bowl of water, don't know how you'd do rolls or plaits though

I,'ve got one. I don't use it all the time as I am on a diet. But the hot fresh bread is really tasty. It's worth getting one. Some make pizza dough as well. And I can make a runny jam preserve in mine too xxx

I have one that I use fairly regularly. The loaves are not that big but then I am only cooking for me so that is fine. It is nice to wake up in the morning and come down for a cuppa just as the bread is finishing - the smell is great!

That’s useful to know. My loaves end up slightly dense when room temp proven, how do I combat that?

We use ours day in day out and have had 3 over the last 20 years or so. Panasonic are probably the best.

Sometimes you can get really good ones on Ebay that have just been returned with a slight dent in the side.Our last Panasonic was around £100 cheaper that way.

You must, however, use strong flour preferably Canadian, for a well risen loaf.

I'm gonna get my breadmaker out while i'm off work this week and use it so when hubby comes home from work the house smells of bread i do occasionally make bread the traditional way and that has gone down very well.

My ex had the breadmaker when we split up but he has no use for it now so i have it
