Prostate Cancer

I just wanted to start a positive thread about this subject

My dad was diagnosed with this about 5 years ago, but decided is was appropriate levels that could be measured by PSA level every six months.

Unfortunately back in February/March his results came back sky high so was made a priority case, first step was to start hormone replacement therapy and carry out the usual scans, of Cat, Bone and MRI, and today was his first Chemo session, so obviously I phoned tonight to see how he was doing and is actually feeling really good, he was also joking as usual about going through the symptoms of 'the change' and your body automatically thinks if you sit down to pee your must need a shite

So whilst we have a way to go and Radiotherapy may still be on the card, which is the one we are more concerned about. I did find a great article on BBC about an 'anal spacer' which can help protect other organs from damage during this, so we have plenty of time to see if our hospital offers it or if not to see where does.

So just thought I would give people a little hope, that there is some things to be positive about and yes it is scary, it is not always as bad as you may think.

So if you wish to contribute your own thoughts or stories here please feel free to do so

My ex husband had this about 2 years ago. He had his prostrate removed and radiation treatment. He has been very poorly and been in counselling but he is on the mend now. Living with the after effects of not being able to get an erection and peeing himself. I feel very sad for him xx

I suppose we were lucky as surgery was never on the table as that can cause more problems than it solves, hence the hormone therapy first to shrink the gland then straight into Chemo, last blood PSA levels came back a lot lower after just the hormone therapy from 10+ to just over 3+

So there are options if detected early enough, apologies for your ex though

I had prostate cancer 2 year ago went through all the treatment and now clear of cancer but not able to get or keep a stiff cock for long but i still enjoy sex i still have my fingers and mouth in full working order, I still like having my cock playing with and lots of forplay so just because you have had cancer or prostate problem do not think that sex is all over

I lost my dad to prostate cancer last year. Horrendous disease. Watching him deteriorate and passing away I will never get over.

How very sad to read those stories of heartache, my thoughts and prayers go out to you all. As well as all those suffering from life changing illnesses.

On a slightly lighter note, there is evidence suggesting that having regular orgasms can reduce the risk of prostate cancer by 22%.

You know what to do people.
