Eat your favourite ice cream during it.

Be quick about it; nothing worse than a really long breakup. Got it over and done with

So breaking up with someone using advice you got from a public forum on a swingers site wouldn’t make you feel shite? Hmmm

Ask her if she wants a hug. If she doesn’t, leave her to it

Put on your big boy pants and do it

Take her out? Have a meal and romantic sex and then whisper in her ear that it’s over?

That’s quite gentle?

As you can tell...I’m great with break ups

You can't. You just need to get on with it and be honest making it clear that it's over and not leave any ambiguity.

Hiding in the shadows

It's like ripping a plaster off.

Best done quickly.

If it's over, make it clear it's over.

Don't be one of those that keeps someone hanging, with hope there's still a chance.

That's cruel

Don’t do it after you’ve just been to the pictures together.

Don’t eye roll and break into a “i’m freeeee” slow jog when they shout after you “you’ll never find anyone as good to you as me” until you’re at least 1/2 a mile away from them and wearing trainers.

I had to leave my ex, who I was living with, it was horrible.

But I had to think...when I’m 80 years old will I look back and be glad I stayed in a place where I didn’t belong, or look back and be glad I put myself first. So I left and I couldn’t be happier now! It takes time but you’ll get there

You can't but you can do it in such a way that you feel less awful. Unless they deserve it because they've been really awful then you don't need to feel bad at all

Just got to be honest! It may be shit at the time and will leave you both feeling awful, but it’s better to just bite the bullet and do it than dragging it out.

Sit down with her. Tell her in clear terms that it's over. Don't beat about the bush or give false hope. If she asks why (she will) tell her as kindly as possible why you feel you're no longer suited, answer her questions as far as possible. Don't promise friendship or time to think it over or anything like that. Quick and clean heals faster.

Awwwww, that's quite a long time for someone your age I think. Do you think she might see it coming? I don't think it's going to be easy however.

I wouldn't go out for dinner ~ Too romantic.

I wouldn't ask her to come to yours ~ she might hang around for ages.

I wouldn't go to hers ~ you'll feel bad about leaving her.

I'm shit at this stuff, sorry!

Under the Duvet

Do it quick, do it clean.

Be honest about it but don't give them too much detail. They dont need an inventory of their faults, or details of how wonderful the new person you've (maybe) met is..Be kind.

It's going to hurt, however you do it but try and do it with some kind of decency.

Good luck.

She'll probably have an idea already if that's the case, women are detectives!

If you're sure it's what you want then just be straight with her, but don't get pulled back in by guilt, you're doing what's best for you both in the end. Split full stop, avoid a "break" because breaks always end and need dealing with again....

Good luck!

She keeps asking if we are alright or I am okay with her but I’m sure I’ve been normal with her.

I was thinking just going for a drive park up somewhere and just tell her straight that I want to break up.

Thanks for your help though

I’ve always beeen pulled in by guilt, the tears come and I’m like but maybe we can make it work and I’m back in the same position 3-4 months later .

Cheers Steve

Don’t do that. You will then have to drive back together and that could be awful for her.

Do it sensitively but with somewhere she can escape to if she needs to get away from you.

I mean... You already have a secret fab profile so it's clear you don't give a shit about the girl. You just don't want to feel guilty or face any consequences.

Do her a favour and get it over with.

You can't. Life is tough sometimes and as an adult you occasionally have to do things that you really wish you didn't have to.

Face your responsibility to her, you will probably hurt her feelings but you're stringing her along if you don't make a clean break and soon.
