Billy Furey is my mam's fave singer, she always said she had a crush on him, she also likes Gene Pitney....my dad always had either The Inkspots or Nat King Cole tapes playing in the car whenever we went anywhere and to this day I still love all of their music and if I hear it, I am instantly transported back to being sat in the boot of an estate car (health and safety....pish!) when we were driving off on hols in the 70s - happy days

A Secret Hideaway In the caravan of love

Frankie Laine — Jezebel

If ever the devil was born,

Without a pair of horns

It was you,

Jezebel, it was you.

If ever an angel fell,

Jezebel,

It was you.

Jezebel, it was you.

If ever a pair of eyes,

Promised paradise.

Deceiving me, grieving me,

Leavin' me blue.

Jezebel, it was you.

If ever the devil's plan,

Was made to torment man,

It was you,

Jezebel, it was you.

'Twould be better I had I never known,

A lover such as you.

Forsaking dreams and all,

For the siren call of your arms.

Like a demon, love possessed me,

You obsessed me constantly.

What evil star is mine,

That my fate's design,

Should be Jezebel?

If ever a pair of eyes,

Promised paradise.

Deceiving me, grieving me,

Leavin' me blue.

Jezebel, it was you.

If ever the devil's plan,

Was made to torment man,

It was you,

Night an' day, every way.

Oh, Jezebel, Jezebel, Jezebel.

Fareham

My Mum and Dad's favourite was Poetry in Motion by Johnny Tillotson. My dad sang it to my mum on their wedding day in 1960 ...

... and it was played at my dad's funeral in 2008.

Not a dry eye in the house

Hull

We grew up in the age of the Beatles as they were coming onto the world stage!

But it was the more traditional musical crooners of the time which dominated our parents' tastes:-

Matt Monro; Now that was a voice and vastly underated!

Al Martino - Spanish Eyes.

Frank Sinatra - The Guvnor'

Ella Fitzgerald.

I'm sure there are more, but age is catching up and I can't remember them!

little house on the praire

The very first two songs i remember hearing as a child where. She wears my ring - solomon king and I woke up this morning - crispin st peters. My dad used to sing them all the while and his very favourite song was Smoke gets in your eyes by the platters.

In the winter if my dad wasnt at work because of the snow he used to take me to the cafe to meet his friends, most of them where teddy boys. The cafe had a back room and in the back room was the jukebox. It was before i started school so i would be about three or four. I was quite a sweet kid and all these teddy boys used to give me the money and tell me what numbers to put on on the jukebox

Apart from that it was always irish songs my dad used to sing.

Billy fury was and still is one of my favourites. When i was about 14 and a typical punk rocker, i still stole my mums billy fury tape and had it in my bedroom to play

My mum liked the applejacks cause my uncle went out with the drummer
