Forgetting names

Do you ever chat to people and forget their name, but you keep them talking so you can get clues to what it might be, if you keep calling a women mate they get suspicious and narrow their eyes. Or you keep them talking till someone else comes over and says their name, once they do you can keep slipping their name in every sentence ?

One tip is if you don’t know a woman’s name call her Claire, 90% of the time you will be right. If however they aren’t called Claire, say sorry I thought you prefer people using your middle name, if their middle name isn’t Claire either, say you must dash Claire as I’ve got to do the Big Shop!

I think he means in a face to face situation so would look a bit odd whipping out your notebook . . . I'm terrible for it, I just apologise for having the memory of a goldfish with alzheimer's and ask their name again. Had to ask the same person twice last night. Worth it though..

I get round this by going through their bag.

When it’s your partner it get’s embarrassing to ask them again.

Or through their phone when they’re out of the room

.

Start using their name James. Use it a lot when you first meet 'em. It'll stick eventually James and you'll sound either really weird or like you really are interested in what they are talking about, if that makes sense James?

That's why they get generic nicknames.

That’s how I do it. The other thing that helps me is feeling the embarrassment of asking their name again when I have completely forgotten it only a short time after introducing ourselves to each other. The emotion usually helps it to stick for me.

It's even worse when you speak to someone for ages and realise you're related!

I am shocking with names. Someone can give me a name and by the time they’ve said two more words it’s gone! I don’t know why.

I'm useless at remembering names especially when you met them on a night out or meet a group of people,

Has anyone seen Micky Flanagan when he mentions it,

Homeowner

North West Leeds

Here is a tip for remembering names

When you meet someone and find out their name imagine a symbol above their head that will relate to the name when you see them again.

For example I met a man and to remember his name I saw a shovel above his head to remind me his name is Doug.

Also a woman who above her head I placed a water melon on a leg.

Her name is Melanie.

See how it goes....
