Vest type things for the baby, can't have enough of them when the vomit monsters start

PS I hate the American baby shower invention. What happened to go round and visit after baby is born. Most people will now end up having to buy another gift when baby arrives too.

Yes that’s the part I hate

Can’t buy any more vest things as their wardrobe is already full of clothes ready for the birth

I’m dreading going as I’m not one for arranged games and making chat with people I don’t know

From what I remember, even if the wardrobe is stuffed, more vests, always more vests

Have you dared asks if there's anything they need / would like? Not wanting to sound like a grumpy old misery, but...

They are either having the baby shower because;

A. Everyone in Hello / Heat are doing it.

Or

B. They need some stuff.

I much prefer the, pop round for a cuppa when the baby arrives type thing.

In my experience of baby showers something for mum would go down a treat, as often and quite rightly its all about the baby and mum tends to get forgotten, the baby will have everything they need. Idk a cut and blowdry voucher, a beauty voucher, a bottle of her fave booze, perfume. Something that will make her feel special too x

DIY beauty hamper? Assemble random small things she likes, shower gels, body butters etc etc and put in a small picnic basket.

Basket will get reused for baby bits.

Just pop into a large supermarket buy a gift bag, tissue paper and toiletries for mum and that’s your hamper.

Oh god no! Promise to buy the kid it’s first car, pay for uni or finance the 21st birthday celebrations but avoid babysitting like the plague.

Baby showers are for baby! Give a gift to mother once baby has arrived.

People rarely think to give toys--bright colored stackable blocks with letters and numbers on are perfect and kid will use them for years.

Maybe I'm too practical.

Mothercare so mum to be kits and they are indulgent. Have creams fur belly and nipples etc. Pre indulgent type treats for when in Mat leave before the birth are good.

For baby don't think you can go wrong with a grobag
