"If you had a big enough space ship and enough fuel and food etc could you travel to the edge of space and what happens there?" You'd need to travel at close to the speed of light. Energy needed would be huge. Theoretically possible. But as time would be slower for you at that speed (you wouldn't notice), when you came back to Earth, it would be millions of years into the future.

If so, how fast is it expanding - can it ever be reached?

"If you had a big enough space ship and enough fuel and food etc could you travel to the edge of space and what happens there?" There is no edge of space. It's infinite.

The weird thing is the absolute nothing beyond. No space. No time. Nothing at all .

"Did anyone watch Holst the Planets last night with Professor Coxy? Just one scene of Earth through the rings of Jupiter (I think). Fucking minute. How mighty our ambitions and ideals in the vastness of space." I saw it, it was very good and it followed "from D-Day to Berlin". The BBC at its brilliant best. I don't know why people moan so much about it.

What's at the end?" There is finite mass as determined by finite gravity holding it together, just. There is no end as such. Like there is no North to the North Pole.
