Has anyone pulled their own tooth out? Ive had toothache for ages (i know i know) now obviously its hurting more now im going on holiday on monday. Any tooth extraction advice

Why can't you go to the dentist?

I seriously would not recommend it, you could end up ripping your gum or breaking the tooth and leaving the root inside.

Definitely "NO".

It probably isn't possible to extract your own wisdom tooth. Go to an emergency dentist...it might not be what you think it is anyway.

Go to a&e with it and really lay it on thick that you can’t eat or sleep and the pain is unbearable.

Worked for a pal of mine, they whipped it out pronto.

Are you taking anything for the pain? Ibuprofen works best on toothache, but it does get to a point where nothing touches it. Most hospitals will have an emergency dentist who'll pull it out if it's that bad.

There are emergency dentists too. Ring your dentist, they probably have a number for emergencies, or Google.

You should have an emergency dentist that will do it for you. Google your local area.

I wouldn’t recommend pulling a wisdom tooth, they are harder to pull than standard teeth and the roots go deeper and you may require stitches after the extraction. Try and fail and you could end up in lots more pain than you are now.

As others said, dont do it yourself, dentists know what theyre doing and an infection in the mouth can be very serious as it can spread to the brain quite easily. Also dry sockets are meant to be incredibly painful. I've had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled at the dentists, it's not a big deal at all

Pop a bit of clove oil on a cotton bud and rub it over the tooth giving you gip, that will help. And take Ibuprofen for tooth pain (if you can and aren’t allergic) as Ibuprofen helps with the swelling whilst paracetamol doesn’t.

My dentist told me this when I had my root canal and it did help.

Chances are, if its hurting then its infected, so they might give you ab's and make you wait a few days so they can really assess what needs doing. How do you know it needs to come out?

Toothache is no fun, worst pain I've ever had, especially at night when you're horizontal. Hope you sort it

Seriously go to the dentist. I had a wisdom tooth out that I’d thought was already loose. The dentist ended up with his knee on my chest to give enough force to lever the tooth out!!

With the best will in the world, you wouldn't be able to get a good angle into your own mouth to extract a wisdom tooth.

I know it's unlikely, but if you're flying off on holiday you need to tell the dentist. The pressure in the cabin could lead to additional bleeding.

I sympathise,OP, I really do. Toothache is the worst pain in my opinion.

If the tooth hurts it probably has a infection under it.

This has worked for me in the past.

Get a mug of hot salt water, as hot as you can stand. It must be hot, not warm.

Swill it round your mouth, moving your tongue out the way to ensure you get it all round the affected tooth.

It will hurt like hell, the pain will probably get worse but it will come to a head and ease off within 20 mins,half an hour.

I've used this to get me through the night before when the pain has been excruciating, hoping it works for you.

Then get to the dentist.

Don't do it Karen! The NHS have a 24/7 emergency dental service, so this could be something to get before you go on holiday. Phone your dentist as they probably have an put of hours advice message and instructions.

For immediate relief, there are some pain relief numbing gels from Tesco. Boots etc

Also try gently brushing it with sensitive toothpaste, that sometimes helps calm the nerve down.

Oraljel OP think you can get it in Boots will give you some temp relief along side the normal painkillers. You rub it into your gums.

Get yourself off to an emergency dentist. Hope it gets better for you as toothache is the worst.
