I suspect I may be in the minority. I generally prefer it when people do not wear makeup.

What’s your preference?

And if you’re a makeup wearer, do you like it, does it make you feel more beautiful / comfortable, would you rather not wear makeup?

Agreed. Excessive cosmetics is rather off-putting. Just like the spray-tan bronze look. Don’t get it.

I like wearing make up, if I didn't I just wouldn't wear it.

I won't even go out in the garden without lipstick on.

I don't feel under pressure to wear it and I absolutely do look better with it on. I'm not tricking anyone either, if I meet from fab I will have make up on and am unlikely to remove it during the meet, so what you see is absolutely is what you're getting

As it should be. There’s no right or wrong about wearing makeup, so long as it’s the person’s happy choice to wear it or not.

Also worth saying that I don’t dislike makeup (unless it’s truly excessive), it’s just that I softly prefer no or little makeup.

I don't wear makeup on a day to day basis but do like to for a night out or a special occasion.

Two reasons...

I am very short sighted, so need to be wearing contact lenses to see to put makeup on properly. Happy in my glasses generally.

It's nice to make an effort when I go out and I like the transformation of makeup. Though I think I look fine without it.

I'm told I wear subtle minimal makeup, but it's truer to say that I know how the rules apply to my own face, and unless you look closely and you know what you're looking for, it flies under the radar. My preferred style isn't the preferred style of most women around me.

I have pretty serious body image issue and I spent years feeling like I needed to wear make-up all the time, I couldn't leave the house without it on.

Recently I've been wearing pretty much no make-up to work: just lipstick and mascara. And I feel really good about it.

I think make-up is an art. And women do look beautiful with it and use it the express themselves, but its important not to feel its a necessity.

Really!? I don’t cake it on but yeah always. And the only time in 30 years my nails and toes haven’t been painted was when I was in hospital having my children. I just always have. Don’t really think about it

I got into makeup as art and self expression. I was afraid of it for a long time because I didn't know how to Do It Properly and Be a Proper Grown Up. Fuck that noise.

I have probably worn make up once in every 4 years of my life! Never felt the need and literally most of the guys I have ever known in my life (which is loads as I work in an all male environment and all my hobbies have been very male orientated) when this subject arises say they much prefer no make up!! Always has shocked me really though I've also never understood the need for it!

I love it be because it helps complete a look. In the same way changing my hair or wearing a different style of clothing changes things. Looking at my make up bag, I probably wear a lot compared to some but like to think that I apply it well and that I look polished rather than Lilly Savage on crack. Hate the trowled in, Sharpie style eyebrows look though.

Looked like a train had hit me after the birth of my eldest, kept in nearly a week, infection in my Csection, wee man not latching on, nips looked like a blow torch hsd been at them....and I remember thinking "Can't wait 'til everyone fucks off and I can get home to paint my nails!"

A bit fuller and less gappy I get, it’s the unnaturally dark and square thing I don’t get. Usually on stunningly pretty girls who don’t need to.

I like wearing makeup, I don’t put it on if I’m not going out. But I find it therapeutic to do it in the morning. I do it for myself as my ex wouldn’t let me wear any so it’s my way of reclaiming myself. I don’t wear bright obvious colours but try for a natural look x

I wear mascara if I have an important meeting or a meet but normally lip balm. I don't mind women wearing makeup - lots of it or a little amount. The no makeup makeup look can take a looot of products.

There is physical beauty in most, but what some girls (and guys for that matter) can do with make up, WOW!

My team leader at work sent me a Whatsapp - she was 'dolled up' (as we say round here) in the profile pic.

I genuinely did not recognise her. I thought I was getting hit on by some hotty.

She's a pretty girl sans slap, but with it on, stunning!

Aside from that, make up is a great one for giving someone confidence. If they feel better in themselves, it is bound to reflect in their outlook.

So, whilst I can appreciate and embrace natural beauty, if make up has a positive effect and provides confidence & empowerment, bring it on!

I hate wearing make up and I find myself doing it less and less as I get older....I am sorely tempted to get everything tinted and tattooed on though so I can look "put together" without ever having to wear slap again lol

I don’t wear a lot of make up during the day but I do wear some - it makes me look less dead.

I like there to be a difference when I go out or go somewhere special so I do make a bit more effort then though.

Again, I would - as long as it looked like they'd washed

I am turning into my mother, I catch myself saying things like ' oooh, she looks like she could do with a good wash'

I work, in an office of about 40, about 80% of which are female

I get to see all sorts

I even recognise when it's 'wing week' for some, when they come in and their skin tone matches the walls, that's a pretty good sign

Best thing I’ve seen about makeup is a set of three illustrations, showing the same girl with a load of makeup on, some natural makeup on and no make up on.

I posted it ages ago and got a ban, but Google ‘Are you sick makeup”, click on images and should be the first one.

Unless I'm being a bit daft (costume party or similar) my makeup is to play up my features. My eyes are between two colours and depending on the colours I put on my face, I can make them look dramatically one way or another.

I have never worn heavy makeup so only wear a little daily. On a night out I tend to glam up a bit but still never plaster myself.
