I'd get an iPad because I really like iBooks and you get loads of other features...

get a kindle.. very small, charge will last you a month (depending on how you use it). unlike others it doesnt use any power whilst your viewing a page, it only needs it to turn the page.

Ipswich

I decided to go the iPad route before they brought out the cut-down Kindle. I have a huge store of kindle books - and a huge store of iBooks too. The Kindle books are mainly just 'books' whereas I have loads of software reference manuals/tutorials/etc in iBooks.

I have a number of PDFs etc synced up to my DropBox account - so it's easy to load stuff in that way too.

Some of the reasons I chose an iPad is I find the reading experience better (black on white) even though this does use more battery power; I can use it for remote desktop working with my servers and I can hook it up to a projector to demonstrate stuff or simply watch movies.

My mum has a 3G Kindle - and loves it (she chose this one as she doesn't have internet at home).

"Ok stupid question..

It isn't a stupid question, there is a lot of misinformation around!

An ebook is a book in digital form; usually as a PDF, EPUB, DOC or MOBI file. An ereader is a device intended to read these files and duplicate the experience of reading a physical book.

A Kindle is a brand name ereader in the same way as Samsung is a brand name mobile phone.

There are pros and cons for any ereader you choose.

Hope that helped!

for me one of the reasons was taking it on a beach by the pool on holiday. paying £100 means if it gets wet, or pinched, its not the end of the world.. if your paying 500 then its a different matter.

I have used ebooks on tablets and they are fine for an hour but then you get eye strain. The kindle I got a few months back has impressed me as its sharp contrast but far less harsh and the battery lasts at least a couple of weeks. I think the rule of thumb is to get a specialist tool if you read a lot and the kindle is precipice that.

ive got the kindle with wifi. its great, you can also play music on it, browse the web ( only in black and white though) and convert text to speech.. donst work so good with an erotic story though. the voice is a little odd lol
