Officer who stayed outside during Florida school shooting arrested on child neglect charges.

What are your views on America's Second Amendment? An officer is charged with doing nothing about a school shooting, yet an entire government does nothing about gun control and it's fine... just peachy.

Not American but just something to check out.

The UK had 1 school shooting in the 80s (no one was killed) and we tightened gun restrictions. Not 1 shooting since.

Australia did the same. Not one single mass killing involving a fire arm.

In the UK all you have to do is prove 3 things.

1. No criminal record

2. No mental health problems

3. You can store it safely

Its not like we have no guns. Yeah the odd person slips through but it's a much better system.

I have no real views on it, I'm not American, nor do I understand the constitution.

My little knowledge leads me to believe that the NRA and the various gun manufacturers contribute vast sums of money to he government, making it impossible for them to ever advocate for gun bans.

We can't drive a car without tuition and a test. So how come we can shoot a gun without duck all of how to use it. One state in America you have to take a course to get one

I'm a bit confused by your UK chronology. Michael Ryan at Hungerford in the mid 80s, Thomas Hamilton at Dunblane mid 90s, school massacre, and Derek Bird at Whitehaven more recently. Although I agree we have a better system, using it could have prevented the first two...

The right place

There’s a deep seated mistrust of the federal government in America, the second amendment was put in place to allow the people to form a militia to overthrow the government. That sentiment is still strong although big business and the NRA have co-opted that sentiment to further their own interests.

If it's the one I'm thinking of, he should be prosecuted, cowardly fucker. It was his job and his training to try and stop the attacker. He didn't even try.

My understanding is that $30 million was involved in the Trump election campaign from the NRA.

I'm just amazed that an individual has been accountable of doing nothing when an entire nation does nothing. Scape goat?

there is definitely something to be said for our tight gun laws, 3 mass shootings in my lifetime in the UK compreared to 150 this year alone in the US.

Most clubs don't use humanoid targets anymore, although the NRA does in some disciplines.

Its really hard though as he is only human and with all the training in the world no one knows how they would react in those situations. Only one person is to blame for those deaths and the its the man who took a gun into a school and opened fire!

After the Saint Valentine's shooting in Florida state gun laws were tightened. The NRA sued.

I thought democracy was where the people decided what was good for them. Who's calling the shots? People or big business?

And why aren't those guys in the black car getting out? Why are they wearing earpieces? Why do they keep talking to their wrists?

To my mind the people who are to blame are the lawmakers who take backhanders from the NRA and refuse to pass gun reforms.

Trumps reaction was to want to arm teachers. Great. More guns. Bet the NRA were pleased about that suggestion!

Taking away guns is an idea. But surely we should be finding out why they carried out the attacks and getting to the route of the problem.

Guns or no guns. There are still people out there who want to kill kids

I agree. The problem is that there will always be people under stressful situations and people with mental health issues.

One of the laws Florida passed was a 3 day waiting period. One of the best movies I've ever seen is Miss Sloane. One of the quotes from the film is that a person who can't wait 3 days to get a gun is exactly the person who shouldn't have one.

Don't be in any doubt. Big business is hugely influential in American elections. They will sponsor the campaigns of those in favour of legislation that helps the business. It is blatant and many people think there is nothing wrong with it. The Supreme Court upheld their right to do it to.

It's insane in my view. I thought it was supposed to be government of the people by the people for the people. In reality much of it is for big business, and to hell with the people.

Demonstrate basic safe handling

Land to shoot over or membership of a range

The no criminal records a bit squiffy as well it's certain offences disbar you.

No guns at all would be better anyway.

I recently watched the Netflix documentary series on Bobby Kennedy and really thought that's how politicians should be. I don't believe for a moment that either Kennedy Assassinations weren't conspiracies. Possibly the time when big business took over.

Isn't it sad then that one sole person is to be found responsible by the legislature, ironically the same body responsible for starting the rot in the first place.
