Stds on the rise..

.. So I've heard on the R4 news this morning.

Worrying trend given the amount of information there is these days.

A lot more people are tested these days which means stds are being detected.

Hiv is reducing

Syphilis increasing

Gonnoreah increasing

Chlamydia around the same

And warts and hsv are reducing.

Syphilis and gonnoreah are much more common in male to male contact. Again it could be because sexuality is more accepted. More men are happy to be tested and be open about their sexuality.

I don't let these results worry me at all I look after my own sexual health and I'm regularly tested I stress for others to do the same.

I think the percentage or chance of catching an std is something like with every person you sleep with goes up 2% and 1/6 people have one ... Quite scary statistics ... That I need to double check because it might of changed now.

In The Gym

Slightly off topic but still valid information.

A while ago during researching for an assessment I came across condoms that can change colour when in contact with an STI. Not just one colour change but change to a specific colour depending on infection.

I think they're still in their development phase. (Not looked into this).

Personally they will be a game changer in my opinion if ever mass produced.

I know I'd stop if it changed colour when having sex with someone.

As a thought that commonly occurs to me. We all assume condoms mean safe sex but nobody seems to be bothered about hands, fingers, tongues etc. All over place. Surely if unclean hands are the last thing to hold cock and rolling on condom then anything is still going to get transmitted? Can anyone enlighten me ad to ‘best practice’ in this respect?

Oral sex can also cause STIs which is why I always say condoms should be used for it too.

I’ve been called pathetic because of this also but it’s better safe than sorry

Is that with or without a condom?

The good news is that new HIV infection rates amongst men who have sex with men have been falling for a few years

'In 2017 there was an unprecedented 17% drop in new diagnoses from 2016 and a 28% drop compared to 2015.'

if I remember there was a breakthrough in treating it better recently which could see a bigger drop in percentage. I'm going to need to find that story it was just on TV a few weeks back.

These posts always make me laugh.

If you drove a car without brakes would you complain if you had an accident? If you jumped out of a plane without a parachute would you expect to land safely on the ground? If you went out in the rain without a raincoat and brolly would you expect to be dry?

Yet people expect to swing with multiple sexual partners and not pick up something nasty. If a stranger is happy to have sex with you without protection then the chances are that person has sex with everyone else without protection.

How about we have a statistic of how many people caught an STD without a condom and how many caught one with a condom.

This is obviously down to the use of prep .

At the same time as this drop in hiv , it’s not surprising to see other sti’s increase though .

Everyone knows sex is way better without condoms , and prep has made it easier to do so without the fear of hiv .

It's actually a very valid point.

If I am at a club and I am playing with two ladies I won't use the same hand on both. I wash hands and face after I play.

It is possible to put a condom on without touching the penis or the inside of the condom.

At clubs my OH and I keep an eye on who BB and it doesn't matter how attracted we are to them they then go into the no play list. On non club meets we have a good look at pics and verifications to give an indication that a couple might not be strict on safe sex. It doesn't guarantee anything but it helps the odds in our favour.

Is there anything wrong with wearing a condom for a bj?

A lot of people get turned off but rather keep it safe.

"Is there anything wrong with wearing a condom for a bj?

Several aspects to this....

Orally transmitted STDs are still possible but not as easily transmitted unless it gets to the back of your throat or you have cuts on your lips or mouth.

Second flavoured condoms are great for this otherwise the taste isn't very sexy.

Third mind your teeth.

There is something called a dental dam which goes in your mouth. The way it works is it kills the sexual mood so completely no one wants sex afterwards. Just kidding.

There are roughly 108,000 with HIV in U.K. But 8,000 of those are undiagnosed(unaware), so aren't getting treatment.

They don’t know the number of Undiagnosed it could be so much less or so much more and going on from the post about gps I think many will not be getting basic health checks in many parts of the uk so in theory a person that’s hiv positive could be shagging away blissfully unaware

It would kind of kill the mood whipping it out mid sesh to do a clap test. What they really need is one that rings a bell and shouts 'Unclean! Unclean!' as soon as you enter a manky minge.

Generally, as long as i'm not poking it round random lady gardens without a life jacket on, im happy that the risk of encountering a dose of scabby knob rot or blue waffle disease is fairly low- even more so as i can't remember the last random meet i actually had #jadedlazybastardover40

Sex is just so messy isnt it, I struggle to see how the diseases can be contained by condom alone.

The guys we knew who used it were convinced it was a much higher success rate than that .

Infact , they would happily say they were 100% safe as they were on it . The reduced success was and is down to forgetting to take it .

But that’s not the point here , the fact is that the most promiscuous gay and bi guys who went dogging and cottaging were happily barebacking because they were on it .

I say were as we have been out if the scene for over a year now , but as far as I know they are still just as prevalent now as they were when we were playing .

I'm a bit confused about prep. It doesn't prevent other STDs. So it's a bit like a woman saying she's on the pill and not using a condom. HIV isn't the only thing will kill you.

The use of prep is exactly why other std’s are on the rise , and that’s my point . You are completely right , prep doesn’t prevent any other disease . But because it protects against hiv , it seems people who use it think it’s worth the risk of getting the lesser std’s .

If you think about it , condoms will protect perfectly well against hiv , yes ? So why use prep ? What’s the obvious answer ? Yes , you got it in one
