Respect mate for saying that, and yes make you right we looked like we couldn't pass or keep the ball at times and a goal from Spurs would have totally changed it..

Also think Moura would have been a bigger threat, Kane didn't get a sniff..

That's the trouble with finals all from one country - the teams know each other too well and often cancel each other out which is what happened tonight - we couldn't find a way through mainly because Liverpool knew which players to cancel out to stop us finding that way.

He was pointing to a team mate to direct them. It’s hard to point with your arm down by your side. No way on earth was it deliberate handball.

Your suppose to use your mouth wheb your in that situation your hand becomes a target if you start pointing yeah it wasn't deliberate but doesn't count for much in today's game just a few lessons that Tottenham can learn from and come back stronger I actually wanted them to equalise would have made a better game

Exactly my point a few posts up lol did they honestly think it was gunna be that easy son was the main man but yeah Liverpool did good keeping him quiet otherwise the result would be different tbh Kane wouldn't be exactly the best striker now he has his moments but that's it why do you think no one is knocking on Tottenhams door for him lol

"Deliberate is in the rules and the rules haven’t changed. "

Actually deliberate is not in the rules. The match was not played under English League rules.

The rule is, if the hand is above shoulder height its an instant penalty regardless of intention.

The rules will also change next year where it will be the same in England or whenever they bring out var to ref it properly.

From then on there will be 3 ways to do a hand ball.

1) Move your arm toward the ball.

2) Un-natural movement

3) Above shoulder height with your hand.

"Kane shouldn't have started. Son was Tottenham's most threatening player and Liverpool kept him quiet."

It's one of those calls that could go either way - if he'd scored and we'd won, it would have been hailed as a masterstroke on Poch's part - but he didn't, so the natural conclusion is to look at it as a failing.

I stand by what I said last night, I think both teams pretty much cancelled each other out, and Liverpool did a very good job of not only closing out Son but our other creative players (Eriksen barely got a look in, Alli was reduced to an ineffective role on the wing etc) - so we couldn't find a way to pick the lock.

The difference between the two teams was Liverpool got two goals and we didn't and that is why they won (and yes I know how blindingly obvious that may sound at face value).

I think the core will remain - a lot depends on what happens with Poch and his discussions with Levy, if he's still there come August 10th (and I pray he is and that Levy hands him the keys to the kingdom) then with one or two exceptions I can't see many players going, apart from possibly if a better player is bought in and they are seen as a replacement, and even then we need the strength in depth.

With Bale no longer being in favour at Real Madrid would you welcome him back at Spurs or is wages of 600 K per week just too much to afford even if he took a big pay cut?

I can see both sides of the Bale argument and in all honesty I'm undecided - there's no doubt he's a world class player and would improve any team BUT the price for bringing him in is a hefty one both financial and other effects - add to that his injury levels and you start to question if he'd be right for us now - we're a very different team to the one he left

I don't understand the flak Bale gets from the Real fans. He pretty much singlehandedly won them the cup with the big ears.

I don't think he's a good fit for Spurs now though.

Added to the amount of time he's spent injured it's not ideal for the pace of the premier league now.

Finally, you should never go back. He was brilliant for Spurs. Could he live up to what he did before, would his past performances for Spurs be their current expectation? If he couldn't match those levels it could end in tears for both of them.

It's been an interesting read/catch up in these threads. Thanks for another one Ash. Bringing football fans together

I would absolutely love to reply to some of the hilarious posts, but it's done now so moving on with my thoughts and the harsh reality.

First of all:

It was painful to witness for many reasons, but congratulations to Liverpool. An ugly win is still a win and for their fans it don't matter. It's all about #6 CL royalty!! Well done, but...

On a serious note:

We were on the brink of dramatically increasing the population of Mars. We are overcrowded as it is on this planet. The red feckin army with their "singing" blew that opportunity for the World. And they say why so many haters. That right there is another reason

On a side note:

I won't be able to go to the gym for 48hrs... the library... hell no! Shopping malls... ffs! My mates and the lads night outs... those fuckers can go without me because they ain't letting this one down!! Not funny at all

It's been a fun, but difficult weekend and it ain't even over yet! Spare a thought for Joshua and his team... knocked out

Back on later to go through the "harsh reality"

Congratulations to Liverpool, it was hard to watch though.

Rightly or wrongly the early penalty killed the game as a contest, Spurs having to chase the game played right into Liverpools game plan.

I had hoped for a good game and if we were to lose, to go down guns blazing. I felt as though that one moment deflated Spurs and that effectively did us.

I do wonder how the England players from spurs will react now for Thursday...

West Ham were quick to congratulate them... some will say you planned this 4 months ago when you started these threads... let's just put it down to coincidence

The game in general:

It is fair to say dull and disappointing. If it was not for super sub Origi it would have been a complete disaster

The intense build up and hype... expectations of an epic final ended in a bit of a let down. That can happen sometimes and not the real shock...

Liverpool:

Klopp's finals record filtered onto the pitch. Players were sluggish, sloppy. One of the worst performances I have seen from that side. The stats are exactly Mo's penalty was not his best/convincing. Keeper could have saved it... the nerves were on display and things were just defensive/cagey.

Not the free flowing attacking force that we had become used to seeing. The heat and 3 weeks off play no factor in that poor performance. No excuses. CL final if you want to win you take control/prepare... mindset etc

However...

Non of that matters for Liverpool because they can have a poor game and still win. Such is their talented squad. They are happy and delighted to be amongst the best in Europe so their poor performance will soon be forgotten.

So that was not the real shock either... once again congrats on winning!

Big ears is yours once again...

"Kane shouldn't have started. Son was Tottenham's most threatening player and Liverpool kept him quiet."

Tottenham:

Now we get to the shock/problem ^

That post is spot on. We discussed, this game will come down to tactics and that is exactly what happened. Poch got it wrong. The only decision Poch had to get right was to start him or not. Unfortunately due to external factors he was not able to make the right call...

The Liverpool players/Klopp were saying they wanted him to play. They expected it... and knew there is no way Poch will leave him out. When Kane is fit he plays due to his position/leadership. The mindset battle starts long before kickoff and off the pitch...

We also discussed Son and his abilities. He thrives on big occasions more importantly without Kane the team dynamics are completely different. Liverpool knew that and did their homework.

If it was not Kane no way he would have played any other player. Only because it is Kane. That team worked so hard/gelled on the pitch as a solid unit without Kane. I felt for the team because they played like the Tottenham we were used to seeing of the past...

Not exactly "Spursy" though because they really did try. When you go down at an unfortunate 24 second penalty it completely changes the game plan... due to the first mistake of putting Kane on Poch had no reply. He didn't have a clue what to do or how to get back in the game... he couldn't take Kane off because that would have sent the wrong signals...

It is easy to say "what if" etc but this was Tottenham's moment. It was there for the taking. Hold off Liverpool or attack them with speed. No matter what the result bring on Kane last 30mins or so because that would have given them a boost.

It's a real shame Poch got the tactics wrong, but we have all witnessed what is possible and gives hope to other teams that have a dream of having a crack at the big time.

We wait to see the future of Tottenham/Poch. They can either carry this experience forward learn and become stronger or have a fabulous stadium with no trophies to show... time will tell!

Harsh reality.

Whilst I agree that Kane probably shouldn't have started it's also something that is easy to say in retrospect - had he of started and scored and we'd have won people would be saying it was a masterstroke and Poch got it spot on - it's one of those unenviable decisions a manager has to make to which there is no "right" answer until after the event.

Damned if you do and damned if you don't situation for Poch.

Realistically, he had the same choice as Jurgen did with Firmino and they both made the same choice to play the guy and take a chance.

Neither worked out and both had a bit of a mare whilst on the pitch.

It would be interesting to know at what point Poch decided to play Kane and if his decision was in any way swayed by having had a full hour to decide who he wanted to play in response to Jurgen announcing his team well before him. Maybe we'll never know but it's all a learning curve and a painful one at the start which I've had to suffer twice now as a red.

Hats off to you guys for getting there. Be proud and hold your heads high and remember what does kill you makes you stronger.
