I believe they are only available commercially at Gunn’s bakery in Sandy/Bedford/Biggleswade but there are loads of recipes on the web if you Google

I tried stargazey pie in mousehole but wasn't that impressed and didn't clear my plate but I'm a great believer in trying regional goods when I'm away.

Sometimes successfully other times not !

Yep! Stilton can only be called that if it’s produced in Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire or Derbyshire. I believe that there are only a handful of dairies licensed to make it and they are mainly in the vale of belvoir

It's the sauce that makes it to be honest. Without chippy sauce it's just sub standard fish and chips.

The jam has to be on first so you can spread it evenly otherwise you just have a blob of jam on top of the cream.

Cut the scone in half, put cream on one half, jam on the other and put them together.

Now depending on which way up you hold it you've got the best of both

But surely it is better to eat each half separately to get double the quantity of jam and cream

I think it’s beef, suet pastry wrapped in wrag (clean pillow case usually) then boiled. Usually served with gravy. Oldham born & bred, grew up on the things
