We've all seen celebrity's in the news being slagged off for income tax avoidance, but lets be honest, who here would pay less tax and get more out of there salary if they could.

I wouldn’t mind paying a bit more tax. I’m far from well off but I wouldn’t notice another few quid a month go.

I think our welfare system needs a bit more than that though

Avoidance is a legal if morally questionable step. Evasion is a different matter.

The worst form of avoidance is political sponsorship, with the aim of influencing tax policy.

Personally, I am happy to pay tax, it's the basis on which our society is funded. However I would prefer it to be used for the good of all, and not frittered away trying to make the economic situation better for the people at the top.

I believe the tax system that we use this country truly benefits a few people anyway, Land value tax would be a fairer and more sustainable system for all.

I’m happy to pay tax, but I think the brackets are wrong. Earning more automatically means you pay more tax, being penalised for earning more but paying higher rates of tax simply means wages to make up the difference which impacts wages for lower earners and consumers.

But I try to avoid conversations like this

I get hammered on tax, but then I know so many people who work their balls off but still very much need help from the state just to put a roof over their head and feed their families. Likewise I have lived in parts of the country where there are simply not enough jobs to go round (and less soon after the next big plant closure). I am very lucky to earn a good wage. I am comfortable with the tax I pay untill the day comes where we pay a taxed minimum wage that people can afford to live on without state subsidy to their income and there is a job for all that will work. I don't see that day coming anytime soon.

At the end of the day when we have people in poverty and no resources to support the needs of our society everyone loses (Well maybe bar the top 5%).

I do, I have accountant who uses all the available loop holes to ensure I pay as little tax as possible. They're all perfectly legal and I exploit them.

Yes it's corrupt as fuck... I hate the system and how people get away with it... I'm a higher rate tax payer.. But unfortunately don't earn enough to avoid it...

The system sucks... The richer you are the better it gets for you...

But for 99% of us it will never happen.

Are you self employed buddy? I would exploit everything given the chance... But working as a employee doesn't give us much chance..

I'm a contractor, all my earnings get paid into a private LTD company, mine. Earnings get issued as dividends meaning I avoid a good amount of tax.

Other things I can do like pay myself 50p a mile for business mileage means I don't pay tax on that money.

Accountant takes care of it all, I just give him all my invoices and receipts and he does his magic.
