Are you a Narcissist ?

Do you suspect you could be one, do you have Narcissistic traits, if you do, then you’re not one, narcissists have no self awareness, so if you don’t think you are one, then you could well be one. Enjoy.

Of course I'm not. You're always picking on me. Every thread you write is a dig at me. Look at my threads, they're the best. I own this forum, you'd be nothing without me. Now where is that guy I was talking to, he's infatuated with me.

"What's a narcissist?"

This!

The DSM-5 indicates that persons with NPD usually display some or all of the following symptoms, typically without the commensurate qualities or accomplishments:

Grandiosity with expectations of superior treatment from other people

Fixation on fantasies of power, success, intelligence, attractiveness, etc.

Self-perception of being unique, superior, and associated with high-status people and institutions

Need for continual admiration from others

Sense of entitlement to special treatment and to obedience from others

Exploitation of others to achieve personal gain

Unwillingness to empathize with the feelings, wishes, and needs of other people

Intense envy of others, and the belief that others are equally envious of them

Constantly demeans, bullies and belittles others

I was married to a narcissist for 17 yes but didn’t know till 5 yrs after we split so I took great pleasure in telling him he was.

Result was he tells everyone I’m narcissistic as I’m the controlling one. I question whether I am quite often but then realize I can’t be if I am questioning myself.

Oh and I’m not controlling it’s just my way is always best!!

You’re thinking of narcissistic personality disorder, which is different from narcissism. Every human being on the planet has narcissistic traits, though, not to the degree that it would be labelled as a disorder.

Is it the same thing as being an utter twat? I reckon most things in life tend to belong on a scale or spectrum, I'd say we're all a bit narcy at times. Don't fear the label, innit....

Nah, twats have a level of self awareness.

We’re all on the spectrum but some people are so far along they’re out of sight.

My understanding of NPD is that there are three different types of narcissist and five subtypes.

Narcissistism isn't necessarily a bad thing. Most successful people are narcissists.

No, you never. I’m right and you’re wrong. It’s so f*cking hard always being more intelligent than everyone else!

The world couldn’t handle there being more of me. I’m too god damn perfect.

Someone who does things to manipulate others' opinions of them, however done, may still be one. It's about their motivation and behavior

"What's a narcissist?

That’s me ex right there. He was also diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. Living with him was quite an eye opener to say the least "

Blumin' eck - that’s like a whole corporate office worth of people all in one!

Respect to you!

I think we're over complicating narcissism here, just look for those that are always starting threads about themselves and you've found your subject matter.
