Burning dvd

I started my own business and have learned things along the way.

Today a customer wanted me to make a copy of his DVD for him that I did before Christmas. Only problem was he posted it through which meant the dog put a whole in it.

Still got his video backed up on harddrive had to make the DVD again but done it identical.

Works and plays fine. Only I've looked at the disc and the broken DVD uses more space up.

Confused, exactly same video, with a new 15second intro I made for all DVDs and the new DVD looks like it has recorded less on the disc.

Broken DVD was recorded at 8x

New DVD at 6x. Can that really make that much of a difference?

Does your burning software not give the option of LP, EP or SP ?

Maybe it was recoreded in long or extended play and you are now trying to burn it in standard play in which case it won't fit ?

I use Roxio and it gives the option to record in LP, SP, EP or HQ, much the same as a VHS tape did at one time, when you could record 6hrs onto a 3hr tape.

Thought maybe that was the problem you were having ..

I used that when I first started my business but wanted to upgrade to more professional looking DVDs.

Stupid dog had to give me more work to do, could have just made a straight copy.

Well what is the size difference, could be that the video or the intro you made in encore was rendered at a smaller frame size, or quality or format than the one you previously did.

Look at the compression ratio you have as a default setting when burning dics. It may have changed since you did the original DVD.
