A word used a great deal here. Increasingly so offline too.

What does it mean to you ? Rude is surely subjective, cultural and in the mind of the offended more often than the offender.... specially on here.

Rudeness to me is usually not treating others the way you would expect to be treated. So pretty subjective I guess.

Words only hold power like that when you give it that power by taking offence to it. So by all means refrain from using it if that is what you want but just don't police others because it makes you uncomfortable.

I can't agree but I do agree with the subjective bit.

Are you speaking to everyone or someone in particular ?

the gym and random places

Rude to me is someone being deliberately offensive.

Or not replying to a direct question (obv this is situational) messaging hey and no reply isn't rude imo.

Not reading profiles is also rude or saying to someone "I know I'm not what you're looking for but"

Well it was meant for you OP, but it applies to everybody I guess.

For me that's more about being respectful to others. I agree about it being subjective. For me, rudeness is being ill or bad mannered... Even that is subjective, chewing your food with your gob open may be considered rude to some but not others

Thank you. You have assigned to me a lot of things that I neither said nor feel.

So i'd prefer you just make it a general quote to all

If you press the quote button and THEN reply we know who you are talking to

I think you have to develop a thick skin on here and let any percived rudeness go over your head. X

I agree with that to an extent.

I find that the word is used on here , often by those who have no logical response to the thoughts of others.

Like a child in the playground saying someone's been mean to them.
