Several close friends have said I'm incredibly easy to talk to and I apparently have a calming presence. I think I prefer compliments when it's someone who knows you and values something other than just the physical.

They mean more to me.

I'm not good at recieving compliments and quickly thank someone before they've finished and I move the conversation along. Even though I often compliment others, I can give it but can't take it. Consequently most compliments I ever got are hidden in my subconscious.

However I do remember going into a local pub when I was 18 with a friend and two girls we were trying to impress. The landlady looked me up and down, recognised me, and in front of everyone proclaimed in a loud voice

'Is that you ****** ? I hardly recognise you. You were much more chubby and chunky as a child'.

I genuinely don't think she meant it as a backhanded compliment, but it was the only compliment I ever remembering taking gracefully...all be it due to me being preoccupied with stifling an almost overwhelming urge to laugh in the poor woman's face
