It's going to be a trick, just like the time he gave that woman a horse to bet on in successive races and she won everytime. Turned out there was more to that too. If he could actually predict the lottery i'm sure he would be extremely rich by now!

Exactly, then we could have all made a few bob, especialy if he did it with a Euro Rollover.

Now that would be a result.

No good getting a tip after the race is run.

He had already predicted the numbers before the draw was made, OK, it's a trick, but a very good one.

He didn't however show you the predicted result BEFORE the draw - only showed you what he claimed was his prediction AFTER the draw. His reason for doing this he said was that he had had a meeting with Camelot and that legal reasons prevented him from showing the prediction before the draw. I can't think of any legal reason that would prevent him from showing a prediction - after all, it's only a personal opinion he would be showing, everybody buying a ticket is making their own prediction anyway. I believe the excuse he came up with for not showing his prediction in advance is what is known as "misdirection". What would be convincing would be if he went out and bought a ticket with his prediction and actually won the lottery - but he didn't manage to do that, did he ?

Only idea I have is the balls had the numbers bluetoothed to them as they were drawn? Still impressive though.

Agree he should have hand written them and showed them beforehand, that would have been incredible.

One has to remember that Lotto tills close an hour or so before the draw so showing his prediction just before would not be a problem ...

even so it was bloody spooky!

well, quite ! He didn't show the prediction before because he can't predict the lottery. Simples.

very good trick , however like all good illusionists (harry houdini etc) this is a trick... im sure it will call come out in the end but im pretty sure that even though it was 'live' there was some camera trickery involved, like the balls he pre-wrote on were actually moving whilst we were all engrossed in watching him watch the live draw...shaky camera? could this be to draw your attention away whilst the balls were switched?

apparently there is also a rumour that if you watch the balls spinning (oerrr missus) you can predict which are most likely to be picked...... if he were able to actually predetermine the numbers dont you think he wuda been kidnapped by now????

Don't be sucked in.

People like him need suckers.

He didnt predict the lottery, just like he didnt play russian roulette live on tv with a real gun and bullets.

he says that on friday he will reveal how he did it and that we will then be able to copy him and achieve the same results which is horse crap i think...... but you have to give it to him he is very good at what he does he really does play with peoples heads.... the one with the kitten is the best one

You need to go see him live, yes it's a trick and he openly admits that he CANNOT read minds, a lot of the stuff he does is simpler than you think yes - the one where he stops his pulse to walk over glass is done by a block of wood in the arm of his jacket (to stop the flow of blood to his arm) however, his ability to read people ie very slight eye movement, body twitches, voice pitches is unreal.

Another 'trick' he uses is maths, if anyone watched last nights 'evening of wonders' all the people who wrote the numbers down and added them to make that days date - we went to that show and i can assure you he does not influence them in any way (or does he) lol

xx

"How the F**k did he do that????? "

I know how Derron does a lot of his tricks. He uses a mixture of NLP, mentalism, persuasion, hypnosis and good old magic tricks. Once you know these skills you can work out how he does a particular trick.

I can't work out how he done the lottery trick. The only real clue is he would not reveal his numbers/balls until after the real lottery numbers where drawn. If he could really predict the numbers he would have been happy to show you his set of numbers before the real lottery draw. So me the question is once the numbers where drawn how did Derron very quickly get the numbers on his set of balls.

It's called cold reading.

If you read up about it it's quite surprising how things which look like they've pulled from thin air have been totally telegraphed to the person on stage.

That would spark some interest from the authorities though.

Mind, was a bloody amazing'trick'.

I must admit i am VERY disappointed by Derren Brown as i never thought he'd stoop so low to do the whole camera trick thing. I thought he was better than that and a bit more high brow but there you are! He actually used a trick called split screen, where half the screen is of him which keeps the audiences attention and the other half is a shot of the lottery balls in their holders, which the audience think their watching live. However, the lottery ball side isn't live; it's a continual shot of the same thing and hides the fact that someone is actually operating behind it and putting the balls which are drawn into the holders. Then when all is ready it goes back to being live and we all think Derren Brown has predicted the lottery. I'm sadly disappointed.

I have heard this theory several times.

Please watch the footage. The cameraman is not on a static camera, hence there is movement, and the movement affects all the screen. If it were a split screen then one half would not move.

While I agree it is obviously some form of trick, I dont concur on the split screen theory.

As has been said, it is a bit beneath his clearly high intellect shows and live shows hence I doubt he would sully his reputation by such cheap tricks.
