Muffins?

Bought some muffins that were discounted from 75p to 15p for 4 thinking they would do for breakfast as the shop ran out of the croissants I usually buy, and it would be a change from crumpets and toasts.

I am being reminded why I am not too keen on them.

The texture is too doughy for me, whereas I love the chewiness of crumpets, the crispiness of toasts, and the flakiness of croissants.

How do you feel about muffins? Like, dislike or indifferent etc...?

Blueberry Muffins with a dollop of lemon curd on the top then sprinkled with crush sugar cubes. Stick 'em in the oven and dream about scoffing them all up in 20 mins time.

I think maybe there's some confusion here between English muffins and those horrible cupcake things that Americans call muffins.

I agree with th OP - not keen on English muffins, prefer crumpets with lashings of artery-clogging butter and marmite

Morrisons did a whole meal muffin, cinnamon and sultana I think they were, not had them for ages but were very nice hot with lashings of butter....

Marmite is much better on toast.....

I love English muffins, lots of butter and jam. Or good with poached eggs, can never be bothered to make the hollandaise for eggs Benedict though.

nowt like a proper oven-bottom muffin, lashings of butter, filled with chips, bacon or sausage

can have great fun if someone asks you if you want a muffin, knowing they've got the cake version, and asking for a bacon one

English muffins with a fried egg and sliced sausage in em - perfect start to an active day

Cheese ones are really nice if you don't like the plain ones, or just put cheese on top and grill em like cheese on toast - that's nice too.

Think there's still confusion between the American muffins, which are cakes with choc chips or blueberries etc and English muffins in this thread.
