"How we all feeling?"

I laughed, I cried, I punched the air and cheered and I also shouted ‘what the fuck?’ at the tv quite a lot. It felt a little rushed but there were a lot of loose ends to clear up. On the whole I was happy with the outcome but sad it’s now ended

"Anyone catch the bit where Brans eyes flashed blue? "

His eyes did seem to have a bluish tinge at one point but they weren't the brilliant blue of the Walkers. He's supposed to have blue eyes in the books but the TV actor seems to have brown eyes when they're not rolling back into his head. I think that was a trick of the light rather than anything significant.

There and to the left a bit

Underwhelming is my word of the day - I first used it on Part 3 of this thread at around 3.45am this morning and it's how I continue to feel about it now - to sum this series up, I think episodes 1-3 were on the mark, episode 4 felt like they were trying to cram too much in and unnecessarily so (Bronn turning up for his chat with Jaime and Tyrion for example, or Jaime and Brienne's tryst as another - neither had any real relevance), episode 5 whilst visually spectacular was woeful in terms of the storyline, almost like they'd ripped to shreds what they had spent 7 series and 3 episodes building up, last night....hmmmm...too neat, too contrived and too ridiculous with far too much left open to conjecture.

I'm not going to dissect last night point by point again, others have done it far better than I can already on this thread and the previous one but suffice to say underwhelmed is my mot du jour.

Oh and moving though it was, the scene with Drogon and Danys' body, I couldn't help but think of Mrs Dumbo cradling Dumbo for some reason

"Flat the pacings for the last 2 or 3 seasons have been all over the place they had free reign once going past the books and went with the easiest story gone were the shock deaths and stuff total utter waste"

Though I haven't read the books (yet) I feel this as was one of the reasons why the storylines started to feel less detailed and off on a bit tangent compared to those early book based series (I'm told the books are very detailed in character and story) The writers were no longer hanging the story on the bones of Martin's books but pretty much making it up as they went along. And even though Martin might have been acting as a guide through all this, it's no longer his singular voice showing the way. The narrative gets muddied. At times it started to feel a bit more standard, like something you'd get when a bunch of Hollywood writers sit around a table and brainstorm ideas (the penultimate episode being a great example of this, which ended up at times looking like the latest Spiderman or Transformers movie, all subtleties lost).

On top of that you have the need to bring it to a satisfactory conclusion at a specified point. Anyone who ever watched Lost will know what a disaster that can be. The pacing of the show at the end was a little too distracting for me to enjoy it in quite the same way as I enjoyed the first 6 series. I think it would have helped no end if they'd have just made the last two series 10 episodes a-piece like previous series. We raced to the end at breakneck speed, literally in the last 2 or 3 episodes it seems. It felt rushed and the story intricacies and character detail that was one of the things that made GoT so brilliant (and pretty unique in TV land) suffered greatly for it.

All that being said, I still enjoyed the show as a whole. And though I came to it late, it's as good as anything I've ever watched on TV and I still have plenty more of the GoT world to dig into, which for me personally is something I'm really looking forward to doing. It's a shame the ending was so wishy-washy but we shouldn't let it distract too much from what a ground-breaking and unique show it was.

Unpopular opinion here but I quite liked it.

It was bittersweet, it didn't tie everything up into a nice neat bow but it never was going to. Was it perfect? No. However I felt that it dealt with the end of the story well.

Danny's death at the hands of Jon was really well done, especially for saying what she was about to become.

I've watched it from day one, read all of the books (so far) and much of the supporting books too. I've loved it throughout and the only bad words I've had to say were about S8x5. I sincerely hope that GRRM finishes them so we get a more rounded story. Beyond that, I say bravo. I never wanted it to end but it had to!

Proper shit ending that. Bran... BRAN!? The lad that did fuck all for 8 seasons becomes king? The lad that said “uhh I don’t want things any more” and pretended to be emotionless gets offered king and suddenly says “yeah bitch what do you think I came all this way for?”

Nooo I’m not having that. Would rather see Pie Boy become king.

Oh thank goodness you've done another. I was going to burst.

I got up at 1.55am to watch and whilst it's not the series I wanted, I'm satified with the finale.

Maybe I am easily pleased.

I loved loved loved the scene with Drogo and the Iron Throne.

It was a very flat ending to what has been one of the best tv shows of the last ten years so many great opportunities to tie up loose ends were missed,it was all very rushed imho a glaring gap between Jon killing dany and the gathering of the lords where was Jon’s arrest or at least a confrontation with greyworm afterwards but nothing he was just a prisoner and then let go hmmm maybe as a storyline in a book it could’ve worked but on tv without filling in the gaps no it didn’t,what about the letters vaerys wrote when they came for him who were they for and the part where they just all got on ships and went home as if to say “job done let’s go” just very rushed ending and weak writing but at least we got to see ghost again briefly lol that’ll keep a lot of people happy and bran as king ??? Why???

The only good outcome was Sansa becoming queen of the north at least she came away with something

What are we going to do now?

This is the most pertinent question; what now?

The trailer looks good. Hope it’s much better than the film!

We hope they don’t fuck up His Dark Materials "

I will probably discover Game of Thrones in about 5 years and start raving about how good it is, when everyone else has long moved on to something else.

As said previously I actually enjoyed the last episode but I've read most of the books so I think you see things in a different perspective. I've just seen this wrote and although not my words it basically sums up my thoughts too.

1. Jon got what he wanted. Tormund always said to him that he belonged in the North. He never wanted to be a king (I think he has said that a zillion times by now), he is just like Aemon targeryn, he didn't want It though they both were the heirs (Aemon was next in line before rhaegar). And if you understand, Jon didn't settle in castle black because there is NO nights watch. For the first time in life he got what he wanted. He was free. Tyrion and bran tricked everyone (greyworm, dothraki, Yara, etc) into believing that they have given Jon a life sentence, whereas Bran knew (he always knows) that Jon wanted to go with free folk (his best friend tormund and ghost) and he let him.

2. Sansa got what she always wanted. Season 1 episode 1, she quoted that the wanted to be a queen. And she got it and she deserved it.

3. Arya got what she wanted. She always was curious about what's west of westeros (she mentioned it in the earlier seasons), and now she will see it.

4. Tyrion was once again honored and got what he always was good at, 'he drinks and he knows things'.

5. A lannister crippled a stark, a lannister crowned a stark (how effing beautiful and poetic that is). All hail Bran the broken who obviously knew what's to come. And YES. Bran played the game of thrones better than anyone else.

6. Brienne truly loved Jaime and she made sure to fill those pages on which Jaime was mocked by joffery. Jaime got what he wanted.

7. Bronn got his castle (we all wanted him to get one, didn't we?)

8. Drogon realized the reason of

all wars and destroyed it. Also if his mama didn't get it, why should anyone else?

9. Sam got what he wanted. Grand master, now if you think that how can he be that as he stole from citadel and blah blah. Remember, bran is the king. He can make any kind of changes he wants.

10. Jon snow's azor ahai prophecy came true, didn't it? He stabbed the woman he loved the most to bring the dawn (dawn = new beginning = freeing people from a tyrant like Dany). And that was the reason of his coming back from death. He united all the people to fight against night king, and he killed Dany to bring the dawn.

11. Jon's heritage revelation was the last nail in the coffin for Dany's journey towards madness (she was showing the signs since the start). But the wheel had to be broken. It wasn't about the rightful heir anymore and AGAIN, He never wanted it.

12. It might not what you expected but since when GOT has gone with the expected endings?

13. ALSO, did anyone else notice the gorgeous stark ship (in which arya was sailing) with house stark banner, and the wolf sigil made 'Queen in the north' chair?

This largely sums up my thoughts too, though Drogon didn't get a decent ending did he despite revealing his intelligence and insight in the throne room ... I feel disproportionately sad that he's (almost certainly) the last of his kind and languishing (probably) in the ruins of Old Valyria with his mother's rotting corpse for company

Film was okay but clearly the execs got too involved with the controversial elements of the story re: the church... hopefully HBO won’t shy away from that.
