Obsession With Becoming Famous

With so many Reality shows and Talent shows these days, it saddens me that there is this obsession amongst people on wanting to become famous and some may probably give up everything including their jobs to try and achieve that goal.

Those who do make it onto certain Reality shows like Love Island for examole may have the correct physical attributes but some of them may not be able to cope with the psychological stress from being a Reality TV star and would end up taking their own lives which is exactly what happened to two stars of Love Island.

It is sad that it may have come to the point where people will give up their own lives just to be famous.

What are your thoughts?

Famous for what though? Fame should come about because of something you’re particularly good at.

See that’s my downfall, I’m pretty much amazing at most things. It’s hard to pick which one I’d be famous for

I don't think it's anything new particularly. There have always been people who crave that sort of attention. Personally I'd hate it.

I find it delressing that people want to be famous. When I was a kid people dreamed of being footballers or rockstars, the fame was a byproduct. Now it seems the fame is the objective and the process of becoming famous is a means to an end

I think fame is achieved in so many ways these days but people not being psychologically equipped for it is not new. Look at Judy Garland.

About 8 years ago there was some research asking young people about their career aspirations and a shockingly high number just wanted to be famous.

Years ago, I myself was obsessed with wanting to be famous but now, I've learned to be happy with what I have and understand that there are more important things than fame and fortune plus with me being autistic, I probably wouldn't be able to cope with the stress of being famous.

she was a child singing star in the 70s and she ended up with anerexia and depression by the time she was a teenager. She died quite young.

I've had enough exposure and prefer selective attention from those that I select.

Fame has appealed to people with various needs and insecurities, in an rver more complex world where some people are too pampered, career choices are more uncertain, whilst people want a simple quick fix answer.
