Cosmetic surgery

I'm planning to have a few procedures done in the next few years. Breast augmentation (I don't want them bigger, just the shape corrected. They're wonky since surgery), filler to correct the scarring on my face and I want my teeth sorted, I have a snaggle tooth and they need whitening. Not ruling out Botox or lip fillers in the future if i feel I need them either.

What cosmetic procedures would you like to have done?

Do you not agree with plastic surgery?

Not a bad thing if you can control yourself.

Some people can't and end up looking like Donatella Versace. The worst part is that they think they look amazing.

If they are corrections and/or some normal procedures why not.

My teeth. I couldn’t get braces when I was younger and now I’m too skint to do so. They all got knocked out when I was very young, so my adult teeth all grew in early and my mouth is pretty over crowded.

Also I broke my nose when I was wee and I’d like that sorted.

But otherwise, nothing. I’m not overly bothered by those things, I look 10/10 anyway

If it's very subtle then why not, but there's nothing worse than all these horror mask women with the pumped up lips and those weird frozen faces that look like an allergic reaction, like those awful women on those "real housewives of" programmes Katie Price looks awful now.

I don't think I'd have anything done, not because I don't think there could be improvements, simply because I don't want to have any unnecessary surgery. Having said that, I don't disagree with cosmetic surgery and I think some people look fantastic after having it.

Maybe 'coolsculpting' cryolipoysis. Freeze small pockets of fat, the fat cells die and your body flushes them out. No surgery.

I have a long list I doubt I wi ever actually have them done though.

Laser eye surgery

I've always hated my nose so that needs doing

Chin tuck so I don't have quite so many.

Bariatric surgery followed by tummy tuck and breast lift

Honestly I think the laser eye are all I would really have done but if money was no object I would have the lot

I'd maybe get a nose job if I could get put to sleep before it and not wake up until it's healed.

Tbh I’m almost (only almost) glad I can’t afford any surgery - because I think that once I started I wouldn’t stop - then one day I’d look in the mirror and wonder who the bloody hell the ‘perfect ‘ stranger was looking back at me!

Hiding in the shadows

I had my boobs reduced nearhy 3yrs ago.

Was referred by my GP several times but NHS didn't class me as urgent, was told possible 3/4yrs!

I'd have been crippled by then

Went private.

Wish I'd had it done years ago now.

Would I have surgery, just for cosmetic reasons?

No.

I am terrified of surgery, I've 'died' twice during operations.

Its not something I'd ever go through again unless absolutely necessary.

Had one side of my face reconstructed after a motorcycle accident. The processes used are fascinating. And the skill of the surgeon over 400 stitches in half a face that had been in a bad meeting with tarmac.

Most people can't see anything at all, closer look will show a couple of scars but it's good work.

My parents were seriously looking into getting my ears pinned back when I was at junior school as I was getting mercilessly bullied over them, I'm glad they didn't though as I grew into them as I got older and I've seen the results of others who have had it done.

I think you look stunning as you are. I understand your perception of yourself is what's important tho.

If you feel you need it - do it, i would have a couple of things done if money wasn't an issue.

Being happy with yourself is what matters. X

It's your money your choice. Personally I think your wasting the money if I'm honest. I think in most cases plastic surgery is a waste of money. I think life's far better when your happy with who you are, how you are. But enjoy your money how you want. If this in the end makes you happy fair enough.

If I could afford it I'd have my breasts lifted and a nose job. I don't disagree with plastic surgery. I think we should be able to what we want with our bodies. If it makes someone happy then great, we only live once and as much as it's important to be happy with yourself, some of us loathe ourselves so much and never will be so it's great we can change that.

I think some people go very extreme with surgery sometimes and I do find myself thinking what on earth are you doing?! But if they are happy like that then who am I to judge them?

Personally I wouldn't get anything done, apart from maybe teeth whitening. Not that I'm totally happy with myself, there are things I feel self-conscious about, but because I feel that self-acceptance is healthier than self-modification. I feel like getting 'work done' reinforces particular unrealistic standards of beauty and excludes a huge percentage of people from being viewed as beautiful and desirable. I don't want to be part of that.

Well my Instagram feed keeps showing me adverts for hair transplants and scalp tattooing.

So I’m guessing it’s trying to tell me something. I have considered them to be honest as I have the cash. But think I would look ridiculous if I turned up one day with a new head of hair.

It took me ages to become comfortable with the shaved head look so I’m sticking with it.

I like the way I am, but I am spending a bloody fortune at the moment on dentistry and I have decided to treat my to a hair transplant before I have to resort to a lacquered weasel type comb over like Donald Trump, but that's it.

Ok I spend quite a bit on Retinol cream too but that's just preservation

Nothing wrong with wanting to improve yourself- if it makes you happy then do it

Good luck with your treatments OP.

If people are aware of the risks and are happy, then great. It can really boost some people's confidence.

Sadly though, for some, all the surgery in the world won't change how you feel on the inside.

Surgery is just not a big deal anymore and so common. I felt really sad the other week when I overheard one of my daughter's 14 year old friends listing to everyone what she's planning to change about herself once she's old enough. As another poster mentioned, adverts for it are everywhere now.

Surgery can be great for some. The amount of adverts I see on Insta for veneers in Turkey, bum lifts , lipo etc is unreal though. Some really glamorous it to people, especially young ones
