People die as a result of watching TV shows a lot. Think how many deaths and injuries surround various sports - should football no longer be televised? Or shows like Jackass that encourage reckless acts? I feel sorry for the guy that died, but is no responsibility attached to him? I'm sure he would have known what the show was like, but he made the choice to appear on it.

He also had a warrant out for him for fai g to attend court lost his job was living in a bedsit amongst other things if anything the support he got from the shows team of experts is probably more than most folk get because waiting lists from nhs are too long and private is beyond many folks pockets it’s just u fortunate as the show did benefit some folk, suicides are never the result of just one issue they are a culmination of lots of things building up to it

I don't think ITV would cancel one of there most popular daytime shows without very good reason and they would have seen it and so obviously have more facts and information than we do.

So, 1 person dies shortly after appearing (of his own volition) on the Jeremy Kyle show. Some MP decides the programme should be scrapped forever and there is no place in Society for it (personally I can't stand it and feel it's a platform to air private issues).

Yet those people forced to reapply for their disability benefit under the severely corrupt PIP assessment process (run by Crapita OBO the Government) and irrespective of your ailments, the majority are declined. A large number of PIP claimants have taken their own lives after wrongly being denied their rightful claims. And yet this disgusting Government refuses to acknowledge any wrongdoing!

I wasn't a fan and agree that it could sometimes be deemed as exploitative to some. But it should also be pointed out that the show did a lot for people struggling with addictions. Money and time was no object and some people were able to turn their lives around because of the help and support they were offered.

A teenage girl commits suicide. She leaves 13 tapes, one for each person explaining how they caused it. The tapes are passed from each person, we jump in with Clay, who is number 8 on the list I think. He listens to all the tapes and it goes to the police. A lot of horrible things happened to her.

But I’ll be honest - I watched that show when I was already in a bad frame of mind. It made me feel so much worse.

Great. I hope nothing similar gets produced.

It's some of the cheapest TV to produce - those appearing get just their costs covered and the shows can get repeated forever, without ever paying them another penny.

And yet despite its low cost and high profit, they don't care about the vulnerable people who make their profits, who are held in contempt, abused and left to suffer, without any ability to influence editing of their appearances. Thankfully old material will be binned now. It's the recent equivalent of bear bating and freak shows combined, the TV company having full power over lives - people not knowing the full details of what the company plans to do and show, until recording starts.

ITV should face a review of its licence Imo.

I'm not fan of Jeremy kyle, but I do find it strange how moral outrage is dished out sometimes.

Yes 13 reasons why was difficult to watch at times.

Very much so. But I never watched the second season, couldn’t do it mentally

I saw a gif of an awful scene from the second season and thought nope, I’m not putting myself through it. There’s a couple of scenes in the first season which are extremely graphic and horrible - the one in the second season was even worse. If you google the second season there will probably be articles on it.

Oh - and they’re doing a third season I think

I wondered if they had taken the decision also in part, to help protect Love Islands continuation, which is a bigger earner but has also faced criticism after similar deaths. They may have hoped that they would appear to be a responsible broadcaster.

Yes, a truly awful show, but it got high viewing figures and that makes money which is what TV companies are in it for. This kind of show has been popular for decades - Springer, Oprah, Jenny Jones etc People love to wallow in other people's misery. Is it the TV companies, fault, Kyle's fault, or was the man who sadly took his own life an adult able to make his own choices? I didn't really like any of these shows but I don't agree with taking them off the air. How many TV shows or films still regularly aired have caused suicides or copy-cat crimes?
