Another day, another sprinkling of posts about the things single guys do wrong.

I often wonder how those of us who aren’t single guys would act if we were in their shoes. Especially if we weren’t ones who hung around the forums or were just on the periphery, also getting ignored here.

Would we chance our arm? Would we feel a little put out? Would we take the carpet bombing approach?

Be honest too, and look from their viewpoint and not with the benefits we have.

Me? I would. I’m no great looker or Shakespeare in the writing department. I know I’d be overlooked. I might be tempted to think I owe these people nothing so why not chance my arm?

Thing is, I used to get irritated about the same old rhetoric, then I realised much of what was said didnt apply to me anyway?

I just skim through those threads and move on. This isn't the real world!

I'm not sure. I think I would be the sort of single guy who if not *successful* would leave rather than keep trying. It's how I am now and I don't imagine I'll be too different as a single man. Then again, I don't know until I've actually experienced. I do know it can be disheartening and frustrating.

This. I signed up not knowing what to expect, and saying if nothing had come of it in three months I'd stop. I'm very used to being overlooked.

Just as relevant as the prevalence of posts about "what single guys do wrong" though is the prevalence of posts *by* single guys asking "what am I doing wrong" - so It's a two way thing. Ultimately though the key is do those single guys that are the subject of those threads actually act on what is said, and take on board the views and opinions of the people they are trying to attract?

I know I'm no catch, realistically I'm almost 54, past my best etc - but I do ok, and the site meets my expectations so know those threads don't apply to me - but to turn the discussion around, perhaps if some of those guys they are aimed at, actually listened and acted on what is said then those threads would disappear?

I think single men are damned if they do and damned if they don't really.. they stand out more because there's simply so many of them. If more guys had decent photos and a bio with a little personality they'd immediately be more noticeable.. how much? I'm not sure.. as the sheer volume of messages here is crazy if you have open filters..I completely closed mine months ago because I couldn't get a feel for anyone whilst trying to have multiple conversations. I just lingered for some forum chat rather than individual conversations.

I don't think they can win no matter what they do. Apart from the abusive ones of course.

I do understand that side of the coin. I'd probably end up mailing every profile in my area just to try and get one response.

Getting no reply at all feels shit.

Totally agree.. as much as I hate getting loads of mail, when I open filters, I'd be crap if I had to initiate conversation on a large scale with little response.. soul destroying..
