light aircraft crash

I just listened to one of the men who helped rescue the passengers and pilot from the light aircraft that crashed at the weekend on the Jeremy Vine show.

He talked very calmly, ensured several times that he mentioned the man who was first on the scene by name. Only when JV mentioned it did he reveal that he was medically discharged from the armed forces due to PTSD. He then laughed about suffering from PTSD and having a plane crash in front of him.

He just struck me as very grounded and human.

There's lots of people like him, we just never really hear about them

Many people have a lot more too them than you'd think at first glance. And some people keep it well hidden too. But I think it's beautiful the way the human mind is able to adjust to such things and cope.

Maybe a lesson for us all to ask a bit more, listen for answers, learn from others and be respectful, and also to understand that we probably don't/won't understand a person fully if that makes sense....

I love that side of human nature. The need to help others and how the urge just takes over with no regard for their own health or safety.

I read a story about a group of people who formed a human chain in order to rescue a man and his dog who had fallen into water. There were photos and they were standing hand to hand on a near vertical drop.

It's amazing what people will do.

This actually got me thinking about how people step up in those situations yet they will walk past or laugh at someone falling over in the street. It made me kinda sad actually

I'm not saying that those who don't are wrong, far from it they might have very good reason.

From my experience, it takes one person to step forward then others follow.

Those that dont aren't avoiding it,they just haven't developed that mindset.

Bit like my mum used to pick up my socks from my bedroom floor, whereas I was happy to just stand back until I was threatened maybe?

I saw that plane crash and what's strange about it is I dreamt about planes crashing the night before
