I'm pretty laid back, but reckon if I didn't get anxious about some matters I'd get little done. It's nice to chill but isn't great art for example accomplished by some people feeling a bit overheated now and again?

Yes there were, and are, a lot of angst ridden artists in the world...

I need a looming deadline and a modicum of anxiety before I can achieve anything of note. For instance I'm doing a piece of embroidery for a special and important occasion in a loved one's life. It needs a lot of intricate work, concentration and can't be done in artificial light. I've left myself ten days

Exactly why I love art so much, to feel connected to someone's emotions and a reminder that no matter how fucked up you are, you can always create something of beauty from the turmoil x

I need to be in an emotionally charged state for my creativity to be released. It doesn’t have to be angst. Sadness, Anger, Fear, Joy, Infatuation, Lust all work....

Painters, poets, composers, musicians, so many have a side to them others would view as "not quite right" when in actual fact most of that anxiety is frustration which can often come from a wonderful thing called passion.. Mine comes out in my poetry, its screaming passionately at the world that not all is always what it seems, its anxiety for my well being, for how I fit or not into society, frustration that many dont really get that understanding, empathy for others that the world should have.. Some of the finest creators would have been on some kind of mental health radar and yet it is what makes them who they are

Surprised this post didn't get more replies tbh, it's a beautiful idea and often very true!

I usually get all up tight and stressy and then ffllluuuurrpppppp out comes all the anxiety as a creativity machine gun, whether it be physical or emotional or just ideas and thoughts. At work I always leave shiz until the last minute but for me that is a different experience entirely, I'm fine with last minute cramming and that kind of stress, ppl who know me find that hard to fathom vs the random seemingly unimportant shit that I worry about.

Anyway, I like this post, thanks OP
