I know it makes sense to eat healthy look after yourself and all that

But really is there proof positive if I give up red meat I'll live longer

And what quality of life would the extra year or two give

So what I'm asking is do I say fcuk it and do as I please or just say fcuk it and do as I please

Where's me rare steak

Manchester (she/her)

It's your life and your body. And up to you to evaluate the information you have.

The answer is moderation and variety x

Hi op!

I’d consider myself pretty healthy but I definitely eat a lot of red meat - lean red meat though - as do the kids!

As far as I’m aware it hasn’t had a detrimental effect on my health as yet!

If you had to listen to all the absolute rubbish that the so called Experts spout out then you would starve

Makes me wonder how the human race has managed up to now .

It’s all about moderation with food, also keeping that heart healthy by keeping active

Why? Are you seriously asking that question?

Why we should put good stuff in our bodies, and not saturated fat and garbage?

Depends who you are living longer for. I lost my wife and I’m pretty sure she’d have liked an extra year. I have two boys who depend on me, so I’ll do whatever it takes to get as many years as possible.

The only thing my mum did to excess is smoke. When we were growing up my mum and dad smoked up to 40 a day each.

We were brought up on soya mince mixed in with cheap mince, frozen grill steaks and crispy pancakes with yeoman mash and cabbage.

She had a diet heavy on veg, as a child, because her dad grew it in the garden and rarely ate sweets.

She was almost 87 when she got c-diff after an OP and died.

My friends mum and dad never smoked and one died of stomach cancer, one of throat cancer.

They were both overweight for most of their lives and ate a lot of sweets.

That's what is spurring me on to lose weight. I'm healthy at the moment, aside from arthritis, and I want to stay that way. If I don't lose weight I know I'm going to die before my time.

But that's my point how will we ever know if it's before our time x

Sometimes we are just unlucky with having a faulty gene somewhere. . My mum was a non smoker, didn't drink, eat healthy, walked everywhere, but still got two different cancers, the second of which took her life 16 months ago.
