Hi all

I found an email in my junk folder from someone claiming to have hacked into my laptop, seized my data, passwords, photos, videos and webcam.

Says he has proof of me “masturbating” on camera (ain’t done that for years) and is telling me to pay him in bitcoin or he’ll release all on my social media.

Now the password he has shown me is one of my real passwords.

Is this legit??

No, it's quite a common scam, they get one legit bit of info and hope it will scare you into paying.

Well seeing as jonny is my alter ego, how would he dish on me?

Obviously I don’t use my real name here for real world reasons and I’m sure I’m not alone but I just don’t want my face....or cock getting about lol

He says he has me masturbating on camera.....I ain’t done that for at least 10 years.

Says he put a malware on laptop, removed it after gaining access and can put it all back on.

Wouldn’t bother me normally but that’s what I use for my work.

It's a scam based on emails and passwords that were mostly mined in a 2012 breach of Linkedin (there are others).

Delete, never respond and make sure you have strong regularly changed passwords.

You can check if you have had an account that may have had data exposed on the

'Have I Been Pwned' website (Google for it)

Do you have AV and Firewall software on your device, if not then invest in some.

As for the email, it's a scam. Change all your passwords and do so at least every 3 months

Never give these people anything. Never be a victim of black_mail (especially for something as silly as having a wank on can), tell them that you are going to take it to the police.

Ignore or report to the Police. But if you report be realistic about the Polices resources, powers and ability to do anything. So personally I'd make record of it (in case you need it for evidence down the line) and ignore.

Definitely got the password from a data leak. What's interesting is how they linked your email to your fab account unless they have access to your email account linked to the fab account. Would start by changing that password x
