How quickly...

Do you know if there's potential?

Can you tell by someone's profile if you're likely to get on?

Does it take a few messages? Weeks of chat?

How quickly do you decide whether it's worth arranging to meet?

It varies, sometimes there's an instant attraction, other times it takes some chatting and getting to know someone.

I'd say I know when the other person is willing to swap contact details.

For me a picture paints a thousand words. The 'attraction' has to be there for me, although I'm not oil painting it still matters

There and to the left a bit

Varies for me - some people there's an instant connection and messages flow effortlessly - others it may take a little longer.

With you Rubi, it was lust at first sight.

Some I've got to like by learning about their qualities from what they post on the forums and some I've had an instant attraction to only to lose it after reading their forums posts or status updates.

I know pretty quickly that I might like to meet someone and they quickly work out they don’t really want to meet me.

Weeks of chat and no, I can’t tell just from a profile. I have to find out if they have a sense of humour too.

Get a good idea from the profile and a conversation but you can't really tell until you meet in person

I usually get a good idea from profile text and the sort of pics they have. I always chat for a while first though and even then I only meet for a social. That’s when I know if there’s potential.

Second message. If they don’t get my humour/sass then it’s a no go.

Suprisingly some of the bare profiles with nothing on them have hilarious men behind them.

Northampton Somewhere

If they meet my preferences 'on paper' I'll arrange to meet them for a coffee pretty quickly. I'll know whether I want to meet them again for sex within minutes. Although that can often change, depends on how they are, what they say etc. Poor buggers!!!

Yep it’s the ones with funny profiles you have to watch, they’ll bore you silly once you start getting to know them

Proile texts. The way someone is on the forums. And sometimes a message that appears in your inbox that makes you want to know them more

I have to have some conversation, but if I don't feel attraction quite soon it never happens.

I don't try to attract men from the forums, so I talk crap.

takes me a while to warm up. Even then, whenever I think I'm getting on well with someone, I stray into the friendzone

You can only judge (Yes,contrary to fabled fab law,we all judge) someone on meeting in person.

The smell ,the eye contact, those teeth, that unscripted humour, that breath....none of that you get on breathing in selfies and copy and paste compliments.

Not usually, no. I just wander the threads bemused, and messages, well cave men are a bit slow. You may have to club me before I get the message...

Strangely though with some I just know, from the first message, or even before. They never quite seem to happen though.....

I think you can tell far better, a few days after the initial euphoria of the first message.

Conversations a little brief. Generic responses. Probably speaking to several people saying the same thing.

The chase is over, they need to test someone else's appetite!

"I know pretty quickly that I might like to meet someone and they quickly work out they don’t really want to meet me."

Snap!

Today has been so strange, I’ve exchanged messages with a few people then as soon as I ask for a face pic I get blocked!

Surely it helps to see what someone looks like or is that just me?

No it’s pretty much par for the course. I’m going back to not being arsed about meeting, it takes much less effort and the rewards are just the same

"How bout you rubi "

Initially their profile, if I like their pics and the text makes me laugh then that's a good starting point but I think probably within a few messages I know if we could click. I can be a bit obscure with my humour and they either get it or they don't.

I'll already find them attractive from their pics and profile. I'll know if we'll be compatible after chatting a while. I'll know if I'll meet them whenever I've sussed them out. That could happen quickly but with some it takes a while. Those I can't suss out over messaging I'll never meet. I don't meet for socials so I have to be sure.

Anyone that responds

But in all seriousness, within 2/3 messages I usually decide if I'd be comfortable and want to meet.
