That expression about walking in someone else's shoes.

Have you done it?

Have you been critical of another's lifestyle, job, an affair or wild choices only to experience it from the other side and have a moment of epiphany?

What was your experience?

In the most dramatic of ways. Taught me to stop being so bloody judgemental and opinionated.

I think we all experience that the first time we are dumped

I know I was the one who always did the dumping of a relationship never gave the other person a second thought until I was well and truely dumped from a great height.

Omg that taught me a valuable lesson and made me experience what I'd done to others.

Now I look at things very differently.

After working in care for many years I ended up in hospital last year and had carers for weeks after I got home. It made me see things in a whole different light.

Having to rely on other people for your basic needs is life changing and I have a whole new outlook on life and my body now.

I think you can often tell those who have.

Often a far more measured response to others and situations.

I do try and empathise with people and to see things from both sides. It's not always necessary to have lived an experience in order to recognise how their view is different from yours.

I may not be able to directly relate but you'd be amazed how a little thought can go quite far.
