Harry will have earned some serious husband brownie points with his arrival announcement, telling the world how proud he is of Meghan and how amazing women are for being able to do what they do.

Hit me right in the feels with how giddy he was, a million miles away from the usual stuffed shirt official announcements

Somewhere near here

Such wonderful, I watched Harry’s announcement live, might have had something in my eye at the time. I love birth and everything to do with it, every baby is a miracle and special. I’ve been a little giddy about it all afternoon

So happy they’re waiting to show the world their little boy, let them rest and bond as a new family.

It's a baby!

Nothing clever, nothing remarkable something that billions of women have done over thousands of years!

If you are getting excited about the birth of a child that you don't know, won't know and perceive to be some sort of idol then your life needs a serious overhaul.

I am not anti Royal but cannot see why so many people revel in such remarkable insignificance.

What next?

Are you going to line the streets to pay homage to men who put the bins out?

Yes, it is something that women have done forever, but that doesn’t make it any less of a miracle, and doesn’t undermine every mother’s strength and power to grow and birth a child.

Every single birth, whether it’s a royal baby or the baby of Jill who lives a few doors down is not in the slightest bit insignificant. I get excited over a stranger’s birth story, her becoming a mother and her baby; didn’t realise that should make me a social outcast.

Every baby delivered safely to a healthy mother is both clever and remarkable, childbirth is still a fucking dangerous business even with today's medical advances.

The human race has become way too cynical if it can't just be pleased for a minute that a family has welcomed a new life safe and sound.

For many more than you can imagine, birth is not a remarkable insignificance. Yes, it happens a lot, every minute of every day, but not for all of us.

If nothing else, people are donating to children's charities to mark this birth.

New life is a marvellous thing and they are sharing their joy with others, as many parents do - just on a bigger scale.

Can someone explain to me how what was originally intended as a happy and congratulatory post can descend into such an awful, bigotted moanfest?

There are some odd people around. I don't understand why some aren't pleased that a baby has been born healthy, doesn't matter what family they come from.

I thought he didn’t have a title because the Queen had to gift him one? I’m sure it’s the sons children’s sons children that automatically get titles (something like that).

I know Williams children were gifted with the titles before they were even born. When the queen dies I think Archie will automatically get titles

Yes, but... Charles has been there parenting throughout. He's had to deal with people saying Harry isn't his son - how might that have affected Harry? He stepped in when Harry was drinking and taking too many substances and helped develop his naturally more caring side.

We can never know exactly what goes on in any family but Harry has become his own man.

At the end of the day genetics shouldn't come into it. Any idiot can sire a child but it takes a different animal altogether to successfully deal with what comes after.

There is no doubt in my mind that Charles is the father and he's done a fantastic job despite, often hostile, media and public speculation.

Harry if a fine young man and he's a testiment to his mother's memory and his father's guidance. Now, with his wife's influence, i believe he can go on to achieve truly great things.
