What thing do you see folk putting on their roast dinner that you just think ‘fuck off that doesn’t belong there’ ?

Cauliflower cheese for me. That doesn’t belong on a roast dinner. It’s wrong. That’s a whoooooole separate meal!

Also; growing up my dad would have mayonnaise on everything, including his roast dinners

Agree wholeheartedly, though would go as far as to say there is no place on earth for cauliflower cheese. Yucky stuff. My friend put tomato ketchup on roast chicken. Wrong.

Aw man I love it when I’m ill! But never on a roast dinner. Ever.

I also don’t understand folk who will have cauliflower with anything BUT cheese. My father in law had steak pie with broccoli and cauliflower?! Eh??

I'm Henry the VIII when it comes to roasts. Properly spit roasted meats if possible. Three different birds served at same time sometimes (much like bedtime ).

But definitely no peas!

No mash.

Flavour, flavour, flavour!

Some friends 'roasts' taste like they've been put through the dishwasher.

I find it odd when people have pizza with wedges and garlic bread, all those carbs would make me feel ill

Cauliflower cheese is awesome, so is sweetcorn. When I meal prep for the week I sometimes add peas and sweetcorn to the cauliflower cheese.

I agree - bread and potatoes with pizza is just wrong!

Cauliflower or broccoli cheese with a roast is so right and so is sweetcorn

I like cauliflower cheese as a side veg. I had a 3 schu pie today. Oval pie dish containing mixed veg, mash and cauliflower/broccoli cheese with a meat/fish filling of your choice, topped with puff pastry. Best pie I've had in ages..

Maybe it acts as a barrier and prevents the breadiness of the bun being compromised by the burger juices?

My mum puts cauliflower cheese on anything. I don’t mind it but sometimes you can have too much of a cauliflower.

She’ll add broccoli to anything as well. In fact yesterday she made her own version of Broccoli cheese (broccoli in a pan with some grated cheese thrown on top and left to melt) and then she added.....chilli flakes. Did it work? No.

I was at a carvery today and I had mash potato, purely because there wasn’t a lot of choice (I was gutted). Hardly any veg, just swede and carrots. I usually have so much more. So I had mash to pad out the meal

My mother in law only ever does mash, she discovered I’m a roasties kind of gal and taught herself how to cook them well. I eat them now, because she does go to the effort
