Are you a dreamer ?

East Mids

I have very vivid dreams, like watching a video, sometimes funny, sometimes terrifying .

Last week ..... I woke in the middle of the night to find a scary faced string puppet sitting astride me (sleeping on my back) , he was laughing and waving a bloody huge dagger about. I tried to move but I couldn’t, completely paralysed and unable to do anything about it......

I then woke up and had to turn the lamp on I was so terrified.

I can relate that dream to events in my life, as I can other every dream. Do you dream and remember ? Can you relate the content of a dream to an event or situation ....? I’ve had some corkers .......

I've had some really vivid and terrifying dreams. Most recently, I was convinced I could see the biggest and hairiest tarantula ever. It was on a thread climbing down to my face.

I woke up smashing pillows all over the bed trying to kill it.

Yes I have very vivid dreams, a lot of the time they are like action movies. Though I had one the other night that I died and went to hell and was damned to eat a huge block of cheese for all eternity

On your chest acting threatening, the puppet is a sign of not feeling in control. The dagger hangs over you. Disaster may happen. Of course it may not. You obviously must feel that life is not as you planned? It rarely is. Accept that it is the anxiety that goes with seeking perfection. The potentially murderous puppet is anxiety itself. We all suffer with the little bastard at some time or other.

Yes, I've had two dreams in my life that I remember still. I know what both mean and they were and are significant.

Otherwise the dreams I recall when I wake up usually relate to my life in some way and I can sometimes decide before I go to sleep to dream a solution to a problem.

I allways used to have dreams about myself clinging onto the edge of a cliff and slipping down. I would also have dreams about driving on the motorway with no way of stopping the car... Just dodging through traffic, like the movie speed.

Not a bad analogy .... I know exactly who the puppet was and what my paralysis meant .... this stuff fascinates me

Very vivid dreamer here, I can dream about me telling someone the dreams I have had so far in a night

I found out a trick to allow me to take control of my dreams and dictate what would happen....

It doesn’t always work but when it does it’s fantasti! Just really hard to stay asleep when you know you’re asleep

D.

I dream loads.

Waking this morning at 0530 to a horrid nightmare.

Usually they're pretty random, sometimes linked to a convo or something I've watched. Usually after consuming cheese they will be sexual dreams, they're the best lol.

I recently had an experience like that. It's called sleep paralysis, it happens during the moment you fall asleep or wake up. I think it's because you're still in REM sleep and your brain is aware that you're sleeping, so it shuts down the part that allows you to move or speak. It's a very weird experience to have.

I'm a crazy dreamer.. sometimes nice chilled dreams other times it's full on night terrors. I used to wake up and sit bolt upright in bed screaming many years ago.. used to scare the ex husband to death don't think I've done that in a while.. but not sure I'd know if I did so can't be 100% sure..

Sleeping with a Fab meet, he full on girl screamed in my ear in the middle of the night! Bless him I just lightly touched his arm and he went quiet again.

I do believe the subconscious works in wonderful ways ..... whether we remember dreams or not. They can be poignant or bear no relation to our waking life ... that we can figure out.

The most poignant dream I ever had probably could have saved my life.

... I had been dreaming of walking in hot coals, I woke (in real time) thought nothing of it and went back to sleep. Again, I dreamed about the hot goals .... I woke again, opened my eyes in the darkness, thought that the ‘darkness’ didn’t look right, got out of bed and reached to turn the light on and to my horror the light switch and the wall were red hot.

Fortunately it was more smoke than fire and my then 11 year old daughter had a wonderful time in the fire truck with a fireman’s helmet on.

I now have extra smoke alarms and goodness for my vivid dream ability.

All true

Due to traumatic childhood I have night terrors but am really prone to lucid dreaming as well... The worst ones are where I m convinced my terror is gone only to find I m not awake but still in the terror.. I can get up, go downstairs, do stuff.. All as it should be, then suddenly realise its not real, and I m not awake... Or is it real and we function on many different planes/levels
