"Is probably my greatest grounding tool when things get too much. The premise is that there is no such thing as future at this exact moment as we only have the present we are in. Similarly the past is a collection of 'nows' that have already passed.. by overthinking everything we lose the magic of this very moment. I've just sat outside listening the the birds and laughing at my daft dogs chase their tails with a cracking cup of coffee in my hand and the intermittent sun on my face.. for 15 minutes this was just perfection So much time is lost by thinking about things that really don't matter. Do you stop and enjoy the now? Try it, you might like it.. Hope your weekend is filled with lots of lovely moments x " Yes I love this ! A good friend told me to think like dogs do , they don’t care what happened half hour ago, they don’t car what’s happening in half hour , all the care about if whether they are being fed walked or stroked NOW ! Makes a lot of sense x

"Got my Lads next weekend (5 & 9) just recently I've stopped taking my phone to the park and started watching them playing together. It's marvellous trying to remember that time, when going on the swings and slide was all I wanted to do. Yes absolutely Op, be in the moment but animals and children often help us create that moment " Ah that's lovely phones have a lot to answer for these days. Putting them away and living the moment is so much more powerful than trying to take a photo of what then is a memory. Have a fab weekend x

"This is very much how I live my life now. I spent a long time stuck in the past and fearing the future but it's definitely this moment that matters. Taking time to remember that is very grounding. "Now is right. Right now less so. You'll find a moment when it's right x not every now is perfect." I was not referring to my own situation but rather to the fact too often people expect things ‘right now’ rather than take the time to appreciate what is right with now. Hence echoing your post or may be just talking bollocks.

"I had learned this as a mindfulness technique, very grounding. I think that we forget more now than ever to be "in the moment" open our eyes, and genuinely SEE. Life becomes much more enjoyable, and a heck of a lot easier when we remove ourselves from our thoughts." Totally! It's so lovely when you can practise this in stressful times.. think we all get lost in daily stress these days x

"Oh Saffron! This is a really wonderful thread and yes. I'm naturally an overthinker but stopping my somewhat incessant internal monologues and actually enjoying the here and now is really bloody lovely. There's so much "on" nowadays and switching off from it and focusing on the now really helps recharge. Love this thread, x" God yes.. life's crazy.. fabs crazy.. my minds crazy.. this is my favourite way of slowing life down and grabbing those moments I could easily miss! We all need to recharge our minds sometimes

"I’m extremely fortunate to live in the English Lake District, and, working around the county every day, occasionally when work pressures try to get on top of me, I will park up somewhere and just take in the view An ice cream on the shore of Windermere, or a coffee on the top of Kirkstone Pass. I breathe in the air, take in the views, just chill out for 10 minutes.......I love where I live " What a beautiful place to live! You have magic all around you.. I go to Anglesey when I need a proper recharge. Simply watching the sea and spending time in huge open spaces is so therapeutic.

We (I) find myself getting so wrapped up over stuff that alone is insignificant, yet when coupled with a few other bits creates a whole picture of shit. When I was recovering from the breakdown I had, allowing myself to see the beauty in everyday things was a huge part in getting me back on track, I vow from today to do this at least once per day. "What you’re describing is mindfulness, it’s quite a big thing within psychology right now... which is ridiculous really considering it comes from Buddhism, so has been around forever " It is yes.. this particular thread is based on the book by Eckhart Tolle. A lot of books can be a little overwhelming so don't sink in as well, but this one I read over again. Grounding techniques are a great benefit to anyone who has a busy life. Hope your weekend is filled with lots of lovely moments x I think I love you! " Ha ha x hope it brought a smile

"I’ve seen it at music gigs where people are so busy videoing and doing selfies I wonder if they actually watch the artist in the moment at all. I’ve stopped doing photos as I’ve got the memory in my head anyway. School plays, I'm often the only parent actually watching..... ....feels good when you actually use your own eyes to look at your own child rather than looking at a screen and stressing about getting a clip to bore unimportant ppl with in the future " Drives me nuts this.. staring through a phone is missing the moment and allowing it to be then a memory. So much better to watch and enjoy! X

"The past is gone, it cannot be changed no matter how much we wish it could be. Tomorrow just a hope, aspiration, a dream we are never guaranteed. Today is all we ever have. May your today be what you want it to be....." Same to you have a great weekend x
