Whitney was an excellent singer and performer but I didn't follow her career as I'm not interested in her particular genre of music.

However she always maintained a clean type of image, beautiful, well groomed, cutesy, wholesome etc. Bobby Brown has a different image and its easy to see why people would blame him for her own addiction.

She could have been using way before meeting him and maybe kept it more discreet. Maybe his drug taking was recreational and maybe he wasn't an addict but more open about taking drugs. I don't know any of the facts as I haven't been interested in either of their lifestyles.

But its perhaps easier for the media to spin out that bad boy Bobby corrupted poor little Whitney - not sure that really is the truth, good, wholesome girl next door types can be drug addicts

Spot on Iconic. It's been widely reported that she started taking drugs wt 15, way before she met Bobby. She used heavily when she was modelling.

Sadly, it suits to blame her "bad boy' husband. At the end of the day no one can force us to do anything...she made the choice now het daughter is without a mum.

He certainly didn't help her live a clean life without substance abuce. The facts are she did have a choice and choice the life she did. If she had fallen in love with a clean living man you can only speculate if her life would have been different but in general peer pressure and your surroundings do contribute to how you live your life.

You only have to look at two powerful and talented singers, both drug addicts, namely Whitney Houston and Amy Winehouse to see how we treat and respond. Amy looked a very obvious addict and people had very mixed views about her death, because she bore the battle scars of addiction for all to see.

Whilst Whitney couldn't entirely hide the fact she was using, in the 80s she was the girl next door made big, she looked beautiful and clean living in a way Amy could never pull off, yet in later years as addiction took hold it became more difficult. Enter Bobby and hey presto we have a scapegoat, cos she was loved and people didn't want to believe she was anything other than an addict.

Very very sad and tragic

I did say under another thread that her Best of album started the morning at £7.99 on iTunes and they have now changed it to £9.99. Didn't take them long to start making extra profit from her death.
