Just curious, I wonder how you make money out of providing such a service.

I have run my own business for over 25 years. Never regretted setting up on my own.

If you’re meeting someone re funding this is something they will want to know. Not sure if you’re seeing a bank or something else but whoever it is they will want a business plan. I took a big risk about 15 years ago and set up my own business and it’s honestly the best thing I ever did. I can’t believe how well it’s gone. Good luck if you do decide to go for it x

It might be good place to think about. No income=no business!

And sorry if this sounds like hurting your bubble, there are a while raft of charities, social services and other public bodies already doing this.

Where is your USP, and just how are you going to improve, or even break into the current systems. The public sector is often impervious to change..

I opened my own coffee shop 18 months ago, it's the best move I ever made!

Be warned though, make sure you are passionate about what you do, it's the only thing that will get you through the long hours and loss of a social life lol.

Help people, homeless and drug use

I used to work as a joiner for a company called JFH (jobs friends and houses) but before they came on the scene I was homeless. I now have my own home I’m a qualified joiner and have a full time job.

People always write people off in life but sometimes we need more than a second chance! You just need to see the potential in people! We all just need a lift in life as not everyone are bad people, some have just been dealt a bad start in life...

Help people and help yourself

If I'd had more self belief in my younger days then I should have gone down the self employed female plumber route.

Got the qualifications but not the confidence to go it alone. Things haven't turned out too badly, still using the qualifications just not in the way I'd originally thought I would.

Ideally I'd own and manage a small block of flats owned outright (Ok I'd need to win the lottery). I'd do some courses and become a qualified plumber and electrician. That was I could make my full time job managing and maintaining the properties. That way I could ensure work is carried out when needed to a standard I am happy with. Then also have plenty of free time for family, hobbies and interests. I'd just love to provide people with affordable, safe, secure property maintained to a standard I would be happy to live in. Especially since the state is failing to provide this. I think in a first world country people should have access to decent housing.

I think that type of counselling whilst very needed is highly unlikely to pay from the client base, you would be looking for funding and to get that you would very likely need to be a qualified councillor and gave plenty of experience already, I’d recommend getting more skills first, or joining another group for experience (victim support) then looking at it again

I’ve work closely with a funding organisation that support that kind of service and they really need to see loads of experience and they dont support new businesses you need to start your own and show your worth before they assist

But a great idea and hope you get it going, ive Always wanted a lovely tea room
