Can someone please tell me where and how and why the white walkers came about .

I’m guessing it’s been explained in the past but I can’t get my head around who they all are . An last nights ending I mean wow . Never thought of her

The night king was created by the children of the forest as a form of protection against attack from Westeros from what I can remember

The night king has the power to raise the dead so all of the white walkers are victims that have previously fallen.

They were created thousands of years in the past by the Children Of The Forest (who Bran came across in an earlier series) and were originally created as a weapon to use against the First Men but they broke free from the Children Of The Forest's control and became what we saw in the show.

In the book the Night King and Night’s King were two different beings/people. They’ve sort of merged on the show. The Nights King is far more interesting (book wise)
